Sony Hires WONDER WOMAN Screenwriter Jason Fuchs To Pen Its ROBOTECH Movie

Sony's strategy for Robotech seems to be a simple one...just pinch the top talent at WB. After snagging IT director Andy Muschietti, Wonder Woman scribe Jason Fuchs has been hired to write the script.

Just months after filching Andy Muschietti from WB's corral for their Robotech movie (and subsequently making him unavailable to helm Justice League Dark), Sony Pictures has pilfered another top creative from the studio.  Jason Fuchs, the actor-turned-director and screenwriter who most recently co-wrote Wonder Woman for WB Entertainment will write the script for Robotech.

Sony snagged the film rights to Robotech from WB back in 2015 after the project languished in development there for nearly a decade (Leonardo DiCaprio was rumored to be attached at one point).

As previously reported, Muschietti is set to direct IT: Chapter 2 before tackling anything else so the wait for Robotech might be a lengthy one.

Never was that interested in Robotech. Curious, but who on this site is excited for this film?

@L0RDbuckethead - Yes I loved the Macross saga anime as a kid, so I would love to see Rick Hunter and Minmei done in live action.

@L0RDbuckethead - ME! I actually just finished rewatching all three seasons on Amazon a couple weeks ago :)

@NateBest - Really? Well I just might check it out then. What anime would you compare it to?

@L0RDbuckethead - It's tough because I used to watch it before school every day when I was a kid in the 80s when Transformers and GI Joe was popular. Maybe an older version of Gundam, but versus aliens? After rewatching it as an adult I now see it's a pretty mature show and not as fast-paced as I remember. If you like mechs and aliens, you'll probably like it.

@NateBest - I did like Gundam growing up. I'll give it a shot. 3 seasons is nothing. You said they're all on Amazon, right?

@L0RDbuckethead - Yes! There are like 30 episodes for each season, so a bit longer than most of the anime nowadays :)

More mechs in my life is a good thing.

This movie has been happening for 20 years. A Robotech movie is like Voltron or Thunder Cats, it has potential for a great franchise but no one has any idea on how to get it started

@WruceBayne -

Came here to write about Thundercats, man would love that.
Heck I'd add Bravestar to the list as well, watched that cartoon movie on repeat as a kid
