Ever since Furious 7 managed to gross over $1.5 billion dollars (and counting) at the worldwide box office, James Wan has been an extremely wanted man in Hollywood. Multiple studios were rumored to be pursuing him for a variety of projects, the most prominent of which was Warner Bros.' DC adaptation Aquaman

Well, after weeks of speculation, it's official.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Wan has officially closed his deal with WB to develop and direct Aquaman, which will star Jason Momoa (Game Of Thrones) as the titular hero. He'll also oversee the development of the script, which is currently being written by Kurt Johnstad (300). In addition to closing the Aquaman deal, Wan also simultaneously closed his deal with Sony to direct Robotech, an adaptation of the popular 1980s anime of the same name.

Don't expect Wan to get started on either of these projects for a while as he is currently committed to directing New Line Cinema's The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Experiment and is expected to be unavailable until at least mid-2016. Aquaman isn't expected to swim into theaters until July 27, 2018, so there will be ample time for Wan to pick up that project sometime late next year or early 2017.
