James Wan In Talks To Direct ROBOTECH; Also Reportedly A Lock For AQUAMAN

In-demand Furious 7 director James Wan is said to be in early discussions with Sony to helm their Robotech movie; but word is he's set to direct Aquaman for Warner Bros. after The Conjuring 2.

It seems the success of the latest Fast & Furious movie has put directer James Wan at the top of quite a few lists. Deadline report that he's the man Sony want to kick-start their new Robotech franchise, and reckon he is in early talks to do just that. The site also acknowledges that Wan has a lot of offers on the table, but hear that "he and Sony are going to try and make this work."

As we knew already, one of those offers was Warner Bros' solo Aquaman movie, and The Wrap's Jeff Sneider is hearing that Wan has agreed to helm it after his next project, The Conjuring 2. If that's the case, it'll obviously be a while before cameras roll on Robotech, so it's entirely possible something will have to give here.

Robotech will be produced by Hollywood Gang’s Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton, with a script from Michael Gordon. There's currently no release date.

James Wan must not be called a director. He is just an action choreographer. I seriously am worried about this movie if he is in helm.

as long the movie gets moving, fine, I'll take it. I liked F&F 7 enough, I'll give him a chance.

Jeff Sneider also said Dwayne Johnson would be John Stewart.

I'm still believing Wan is for Shazam.

With the Rock you never know. He said GL and Black Adam were his 2 favorite characters. It's likely he could have be interested in GL.

@LEVITIKUZ Playing Black Adam is a better, more interesting choice IMO for his career. Villain/Anti-hero role is something he hasn't tackled since going heel early in the Attitude Era for WWF.

More worried about who will write the movie than who directs it. A director is there to visually portray the story the writers wrote. IF the writer can't write great character dialouge and story, then the movie is not gonna be great even though the visuals maybe awesome. There is only so much a director can do visually with a crappy script.

true but a Director has more potential to [frick] up a film than the writer. Example: Transformers 1-4
