20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has officially released James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez's Alita: Battle Angel on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, and DVD. It's also currently available on Digital HD.

Alita: Battle Angel may not have been a huge hit domestically, but thanks to a strong performance overseas, the Robert Rodriguez-directed feature managed to gross over $404.8 million worldwide ($85.7M domestic; $319.1M foreign) on its $170 million production budget - which may be just good enough to greenlight a sequel if the film's new distributors at Walt Disney Studios are interested in moving forward with the James Cameron-backed franchise.

In addition to the standard three-disc 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/Digital combo pack, Alita: Battle Angel is also available in two exclusive editions from Best Buy (Steelbook) and Target (USB Charging Wristband). There's also an extremely cool Limited Edition Collector's Set available for Amazon Prime members, which will include a 64-page book, a signed certificate of authenticity, and two framed collectible concept art prints.

The home video release comes packaged with a wide variety of special features that will take you behind-the-scenes of one of the most visually stunning films of the year. There don't seem to be any deleted scenes, but there should be more than enough to satisfy even the most diehard of fans.

I still can’t believe this grossed 40 million dollar more than Shazam. I mean I really liked both but with the DC brand behind Shazam along that surprises me.

@TheUnworthyThor - Alita I believe was marketed more highly than Shazam. Plus there was curiosity factor. With Shazam which was a solid movie it was marketed weirdly to me. That's my take on it though. I would have said DC still had some I'll will but Aquaman became an outlier so it's very strange.

Having seen it, it felt like something was missing, cannot quite put my finger on it.
Thought that the CGI was good though, really surprised by it.

Really think it's a shame that James Cameron didn't get to direct it as we would have got a much better film.

@SimplyAz - My main issue with the movie, was the story they were setting up for the sequel, was a lot more compelling than the one we got in this movie.

@JoeInTheBox -

Exactly, it seemed to be getting there and then it suddenly ends. My missus wasn't thrilled with this when we watched it together.

@JoeInTheBox - totally agree thats the only thing I didnt like, but U must say. This is the best anime adaption I have ever seen. It was really good to watch.

@Summz - Agreed, I still have a few more live action anime adaptations(Bleach, Lupin III, etc), but I liked this a lot. I also gold Speed Racer up there too, and that had a more complete story than Alita did.
