For all the reported trouble Marvel Studios had with the production of Ant-Man, the finished product turned out surprisingly good. With the sequel, Peyton Reed is now free to superimpose his DNA into Ant-Man's sophomore cinematic adventure without being hamstrung by what Edgar Wright envisioned. Through the numerous rewrites of the script, Adam McKay injected some of his trademark humor and style and while promoting his new film, The Big Short, he mentioned that he's definitely game to help Reed on the sequel. "Oh absolutely. I was weaned on Marvel as a little kid so I’d do anything for Marvel. I know they’re talking about ANT-MAN 2 so I let Feige and Paul Rudd know, I’m on deck man man, gimme the call because I had so much fun doing the first one."
Ant-Man And The Wasp arrives in theaters on July 6, 2018 and will star Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly. Rudd's Scott Lang will next be seen suiting up in Captain America: Civil War, hitting North American theaters on March 6, 2016.
The first Ant-Man feature grossed $518.5 million US dollars worldwide from an estimated production budget of $130 million US dollars. The film currently sits at #9 on the Marvel Cinematic Universe worldwide box office rankings ( a total of 12 entries to date).
