Adam McKay Hopes To Return To Work On ANT-MAN AND THE WASP

For all the reported trouble Marvel Studios had with the production of Ant-Man, the finished product turned out surprisingly good.  With the sequel, Peyton Reed is now free to superimpose his DNA into Ant-Man's sophomore cinematic adventure without being hamstrung by what Edgar Wright envisioned.  Through the numerous rewrites of the script, Adam McKay injected some of his trademark humor and style and while promoting his new film, The Big Short, he mentioned that  he's definitely game to help Reed on the sequel.  "Oh absolutely. I was weaned on Marvel as a little kid so I’d do anything for Marvel. I know they’re talking about ANT-MAN 2 so I let Feige and Paul Rudd know, I’m on deck man man, gimme the call because I had so much fun doing the first one."

Ant-Man And The Wasp
arrives in theaters on July 6, 2018 and will star Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly.  Rudd's Scott Lang will next be seen suiting up in Captain America: Civil War, hitting North American theaters on March 6, 2016.

The first Ant-Man feature grossed $518.5 million US dollars worldwide from an estimated production budget of $130 million US dollars. The film currently sits at #9 on the Marvel Cinematic Universe worldwide box office rankings ( a total of 12 entries to date).

I'd just like to say that I'm also available if you need me, Marvel.

As long as we're just saying these things.

Peyton Reed did say he will be involved once he's done with Oscar campaign season for THE BIG SHORT.

Side-note: Ryan Gosling as Black Bolt. Gosling doesn't like to talk anyways (Drive, Only God Forgives).

You know what, let's do that Doop solo followed by a Squirrel Girl solo, culminating in a Doop Vs Squirrel Girl movie! That'll rake in the money, $100mil+ opening weekend!

I just listened to the commentary and either Peyton Reed is a pathological liar or 90% of the stuff that people loved about Ant-Man were created post-Edgar Wright's departure. The Falcon cameo, the Janet flashback, the "he said, she said, they said" rumor thing.

I'm really glad we're getting more of these two, and I hope they build on the foundation of the first. Not so much Avengersy, but more like a family of explorers and do-gooders. Like the Fantastic Four with more shrinking.

Also, Marvel. Call me. I have a killer Lady Stiltman script, but like half of the jokes only work if you can get Whoopie Goldberg for the lead role.

@superherodevourer

Where have you been? I thought Ant-Man was over-celebrated, considering all the critiques I have of the movie.

I don't really think there is an underrated MCU film, except maybe the first Thor. And even that has millions of fans.

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon I'd say The First Avenger is definitely the most underrated MCU film. If we're talking in fanboy circles, then I'd even include Iron Man 3 too.

Ugh. A white writer? Can't they get the best person for the job and not focus on race?
