Really curious as to what the overall story is supposed to be for the MCU right now and why any of us should give a [frick]

@McMurdo - Its called entertainment. Its a chapter of a story. Don't get too overly edgy over something that is inspired literally by a comic book.

@MasonK - what a mediocre point of view
Vigor

@McMurdo - mostly multiverse shenanigans with small hints of midnight sons and street level adventures (spiderman, daredevil, echo)

Some movies just don't fit into that mold though like guardians 3ike @masonk said, it's just entertainment. You find what you like, and you're at liberty to ignore what you don't like

@McMurdo - Then you haven't been paying attention at effing all.

In Endgame we learned about the multiverse and Loki hopped timeliness. In Loki, he ends up reaching the end of time and killing He Who Remains who's been keeping a grip on the singular timeline to prevent other kangs from existing. The multiverse now opened up, we see alternate timeline explored in Dr Strange, alternate universes collide in No Way Home, and now we see that at least one Kang was dangerous enough to get sent to the wusntum realm where he very nearly broke out and wreaked havoc on time.

Now the council of Kangs is mobilizing their next plans.

Hawkeye is retired, black widow is dead, Hulk is back and found his son,we have a new captain America, a new black panther facinf off against America, and the new world order movie ilikely going to shake up the American government.

Thunderbolts is gonna have some big reveal and the Marvel's will probably have some cosmic stuff and partially lead to the younger avengers roster being rounded out.

Oh and Dr Strange is exploring the multiverse with clea trying to discover incursions which Kang has revealed are now forming in the time stream.

This is going to lead to the next avengers level threat secret wars.

Theres a ton of stuff going on and its all pretty entertaining.

@MasonK - When the comic book was written better, you’ve got massive problems in terms of providing “entertainment.”

@Toonstrack - we still have to see what the Guardians will be up to. I hope they stick around.

@Toonstrack - Oh, yeah, sure, you can list all that stuff, but I mean, what else is REALLY happening in the MCU right now that I should care about? I mean, on most days I deal with al lot of what you listed before breakfast. I'm talking about MCU kitchen table issues. Like what is the economy like there right now? How is inflation there? What is the price of gas? Are their skies full of balloons sent for alien planets? Does President Ross have a laundry hamper full of classified documents? THESE are the kind of things that I want to see stories about in the MCU. I mean, I can see weird alien space battles with talking animals, trees, etc. all day long, so that shit bores me.

Then again, I'm also on shrooms 24/7, so that may have something to do with it... 😉

Nice.
Haven’t seen the movie but at least I now know it’s not worth being excited about.

I miss being hyped for an MCU movie.
MoM and No Way Home were the last truly hyped up experiences I had with the MCU.

Ha. This alternate ending is exactly how I predicted the actual movie was going to end.

Kang didn’t really die in the movie…he got more Red Skull-ed and was pulled into the source that powers his time and demensions machine.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 2/17/2023, 2:48 PM
@MrDandy - I mean, he got kicked into an engine. Red Skull got kicked into a portal.

But I do think we'll see The Conqueror again
xHollywoodx
xHollywoodx - 2/19/2023, 10:15 AM
@MrDandy - I agree. I also think that the three kangs in the post credit scene were talking about Loki and Sylvie touching the multiverse and being a threat because they were the ones that killed He Who Remains.
Slotherin
Slotherin - 2/19/2023, 9:18 PM
@xHollywoodx - they referred to the exiled one, which was the Conqueror
xHollywoodx
xHollywoodx - 2/20/2023, 8:44 AM
@Slotherin - Ah good point. I need to watch it again. I dont think he died and think he will return.
Slotherin
Slotherin - 2/20/2023, 7:25 PM
@xHollywoodx - I like that it was left a bit ambiguous and also does his death even necessarily mean the end of Kang the Conqueror anyway given the multiverse?
Slotherin
Slotherin - 2/20/2023, 7:28 PM
@MrDandy - we shall see
mountainman
mountainman - 2/17/2023, 12:39 PM
I think it would have been better for this Kang to survive the movie. I know Kang overall isn’t defeated, but each individual variant is now much less of a threat if we know they can be defeated easily.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 2/17/2023, 2:53 PM
@mountainman - Makes the rumors sound true. The Conqueror becomes the Beyonder. Getting kicked into the Multiversal Engine turned gave him powers and turned him into Nega Kang The Beyonder.

I wonder why Marvel insists on getting rid of villains in the very first movie ?
Like haven’t they heard the complaints ?
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 2/17/2023, 12:45 PM
Kang didn’t “die” anymore than Red Skull did. This variant will be back, that much is obvious.
Scarilian
Scarilian - 2/17/2023, 12:53 PM
@PlusUltra -
Would anyone care about him if he did return? He was beaten by the weakest heroes in the franchise in a movie that is getting negative reception?
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 2/17/2023, 12:54 PM
@Scarilian - I guess we’ll see. And Ant-Man is far from the weakest hero. It took Spider-Man and two Iron Men to take him down.
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 2/17/2023, 12:56 PM
@Scarilian - “weakest hero in the franchise”

newhire13
newhire13 - 2/17/2023, 2:50 PM
@Scarilian - If he comes back then that would mean he wasn’t beaten and that he’s very hard to kill.

I liked The theatrical ending more than this leak.
TheLobster
TheLobster - 2/17/2023, 12:55 PM
@cocaegelo - just curious but why? This film had zero stakes and the ending solidified that IMO
cocaegelo
cocaegelo - 2/18/2023, 2:37 PM
@TheLobster - well, imo this leaked ending would be Just like the 2nd film ending.
The movie told a story about the Quantum realm fighting against Kang and Gave me "a New Hope" vibes and that's Fine. I thik It have stakes, like 90% of solo Marvel movies. Not a apocalipse threat and o really like It that way. Imo makes the assemble films feel like a bigger thing.

Since the beggining when they Said Kang would appear in Quantumania o thought about the many faces of Kang and that the one in this movie wouldn't be the one qnd only (not even the one that Will be the big bad in this Multiverse Saga). This is basically Kang in the comics: sometimes is a dangerous Kang that IS a big villain and sometines it's a Variant that appears in 3 issues and aleays there's a bigger qnd badder Kang out there and The Avengers Will beber get rid of him.
TheLobster
TheLobster - 2/17/2023, 12:53 PM
So Marvel decided to go for the safe cookie cutter ending? I’m shocked.
TopBoy
TopBoy - 2/17/2023, 12:54 PM
I really hope this variant of Kang doesn’t come back. The last thing the MCU needs right now is ANOTHER fake out death. We’ve already seen that too many times in the MCU.
Knightrider
Knightrider - 2/17/2023, 1:00 PM
I am a little worried with Kang we might be getting into the same problem as the Star Wars ST where the main threat has been beat, twice if you include Loki or three times if you include his original defeat that trapped him in the quantum realm.

You can make the argument that each is a different Kang, but I feel his threat level is quite low at the moment.
