ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA Stills Reveal A Closer Look At Evangeline Lilly's Awesome Wasp Suit

A handful of new Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania stills have been released, showcasing Hope Van Dyne's new Wasp costume, Hank Pym wielding an Element Gun, and Kang the Conqueror minus his armour...

Marvel Studios has released a few new stills from Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, offering a fresh look at three of the upcoming blockbuster's leads.

If these images look familiar to you, it's likely because they showed up online earlier this month as low-res scans from the latest issue of Empire Magazine. Thanks to Disney, though, we can finally share these shots in HD quality.

The Wasp's (Evangeline Lilly) new costume looks great, and very much in line with how the character has appeared on the page in recent years. The Lost alum remains a fantastic choice to play the hero, and despite occasionally courting controversy on social media, we're hoping Lilly continues bringing Hope Van Dyne to life on screen for years to come.

Alas, with the Ant-Man family set to clash with Kang the Conqueror, it's hard to say whether anyone is safe! That goes for Hank Pym as well, though he's looking quite the badass here wielding an Element Gun akin to Star-Lord's.

As for the Multiverse Saga's new big bad, you can also take a closer look at Kang minus the armour that's so heavily featured in the trailers and TV spots for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania up until this point. Hopefully, that means we'll be getting much better acquainted with the villain in the threequel.

Check out these new stills below.

In Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Together, with Hope’s parents Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible.

Directed by Peyton Reed, the threequel also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O'Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz, and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to be released in theaters on February 17.

I like that it features the yellow more prominently but I do wish it wasn't so overdesigned like the majority of MCU suits. Ant-Man has his easily weakest-looking costume in this film so far.

Spider-Man is the only exception where his main suits have generally been the right amount of simplified.

Crazy Hank Pym's gun looks like an upgraded version of Star Lord's gun.

Yes, her awesome suit. Complete with dick and balls.

I do like the suit overall but with watching the Ant-Man films, I feel like we were cheated of a Hank Pym/Janet Van Dyne centric trilogy.

Maybe a Special Presentation of them back in the 60s before they joined SHIELD will scratch my itch for that plot. If that happens, they need to give Janet the classic Kirby design or the EMH design.

@FilmGuy7878 - been wanting the same thing. The special presentations are perfect opportunities to tell stories like these.

Kinda want Howard Stark, Nathaniel Richards (Reed's dad), Esaiah Bradley and Red Guardian to show up in that too.

@bkmeijer1 - Or maybe a Red Guardian and Winter Guard Special Presentation.

@FilmGuy7878 - the only other character I wanna see from that team is Ursa Major, which I think is even a character we already saw in Black Widow (the guy armwrestling with Alexei in prison).

Anyway, think Red Guardian meeting Isaiah's Captain America could be really interesting.

@Corruptor - ''once they reboot''

I'll be retired by then. I ain't gonna wait around that long. Just get me a What If instead.

The suit is definitely an improvement over the last one. With the yellow it looks a lot more like the one from Ant-Man a lot more. Think long hair fits Lilly better though.

Glad they heard the complaints from the last film of her suit looking needlessly dull-colored. Don't know why they changed her hair again though. They fixed that complaint in the last movie too, and even made a joke about her hair from the first movie in the process.
Fares
Fares - 1/30/2023, 8:34 AM
It's a slight improvement over the first suit, but as it goes for many MCU suits, it's over-designed for no good reason.

bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 1/30/2023, 9:01 AM
@Fares - the MCU just like to put all these line all over the superhero suits, and it kinda bothers me. Looks like they all visit the same tailor
Fares
Fares - 1/30/2023, 9:44 AM
@bkmeijer1 - Bro I'm gonna write a whole damn essay about that issue someday. We have a vast universe of planets and civilizations, but the designs don't reflect that nearly as enough as they should.

Credit where credit is due for many designs like MK3 Iron Man, Civil War Black Panther, Hela, etc. But in many other cases, the art department just got comfortable with a specific approach and they didn't step out of their comfort zone.

I'd like to see them hire more diverse artists to put their spins on these characters. Like, get some Japanese artist to do some wacky anime cyberpunk design for the next war machine suit or something. I guess that may break consistency with the previous designs so maybe save it for a newly-introduced character.

The point is dare to be a little wild and creative with the designs.

Like, look at Proxima Midnight in Ultimate Alliance 3 vs in the MCU. I'm all for stepping out of the comic accuracy shell, trying out new ideas, and trying to make things more believable in live-action, but at least give it some oomph man.

bkmeijer1 - 1/30/2023, 10:07 AM
@Fares - again with the lines too! The issue they all visit the same tailor really is something I started to notice in Civil War. Black Panther has a great design in that movie that actually works, but Spider-Man on the other hand looked terrible.

As for intergalactic designs, I agree even more. It's something that I call contextual accuracy. When thinking about how something looks, I automatically start to think how it could be made in a different context.

With Proxima I imagine she's from a place where they have different fabrics, different stitching methods, clothmaking tools and fashion altogether. It originates in a different context, so it shouldn't look Earthly 2020s.

And contextual accuracy doesn't just go for character designs. It goes for buildings, ships and weapons too. Yeah, I could write a whole essay as well.

Kang looks bad ass! But...he better [frick] some shit up in this movie! I'm getting tired of Watch this show for this Variant, watch this show for another Variant, and watch this movie for another Variant. Enough! The guy is built and looks like he can destroy lives and Multiverses! Where the hell is it?

It's nice that is comic accurate, but she looks so much better with long hair.
