Marvel Hires Two New Scribes For ANT-MAN Rewrite

Gearing up for filming in August, Marvel Studios has tapped two new screenwriters to rewrite the Ant-Man script that was recently revised by Anchorman director Adam McKay. Check it out after the jump!

Development on Marvel's Ant-Man seemed to be finally taking shape with principal photography scheduled to kick-off next month in Atlanta, Georgia, and with Peyton Reed in the director's chair after Edgar Wright had abruptly exited the project. Now following Adam McKay's last-minute contribution to the film's script, Latino Review reports that Ant-Man is getting yet another rewrite from Gabriel Ferrari and Andrew Barrer. Though it would seem this was another indication of drama surrounding the Marvel Studios production, the source adds that "Ferrari and Barrer were hired as production writers, meaning they will stick around the Atlanta set for the next few months doing script revisions," which is common, apparently. Anyhow, the new writers don't have many writing credits, but their draft for Sabrina The Teenage Witch supposedly impressed Marvel.

In other Ant-Man news, Spider-Man 2's Bill Pope was original the director of photography, but it seems he exited the project after Edgar Wright, whom he's frequently collaboratored with. Just days ago, it appeared that Zombieland cinematographer Michael Bonvillain would serve as Pope's replacement, but he, too, has since been removed from the (sometimes unreliable) IMDB. What do you think? Regardless, Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly, David Dastmalchian, with Michael Pena and Patrick Wilson, and hits July 17, 2015.

I'm keeping the faith alive for this one but man isn't this like the 3rd rewrite? I'm optimistic about them trying to get the script as legit as it can be. Perhaps they're giving it a few touch ups? But a month right before is what puzzles me greatly.

All these writers needed to fill the shoes of Edgar Wright.

In all honesty, I wouldn't look at Marvel any differently if they simply pulled the plug on this project.

I'd honestly have more respect for them.

Oh boy. Now they are just trying way to hard to make the movie half decent. I bet they regret allowing Wright to leave.

Its very hard to see this being a hit now that Wright's gone.

But on the other hand, if Marvel somehow finds a way to make this film half decent, they'll be a superhero in my eyes.

You guys need to remove your lips from Edgar Wright's ass. One man does not make or break a movie.

I wonder how's the Fantastic Four filming going? On the 4th of July I saw on Michael B. Jordan's Instagram a Fantastic 4 cake which read "Have a Fantastic 4th!" (With the fantastic four logo) from on the set of Fantastic Four. I'll post it when I get the chance...
