New ANT-MAN Scene Description Teases Cheeky Dialogue And 'Scott Lang' Vs. 'Hope Van Dyne'

Hit the jump for a brief description of a scene from Marvel's Ant-Man, in which Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) spars with The Wasp Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), and the outcome sounds pretty funny.

Beyond the exclusive look at Avengers: Age of Ultron, the latest issue of Empire magazine also features tidbits on Marvel's second "Phase Two" outing this year, Ant-Man. The article highlights a visit to the set in Atlanta, Georgia, last year when journalists had witnessed filming of a scene in which Evangeline Lilly essentially shows Paul Rudd who's boss. Read the scene description below:

This morning's Ant-Man scene takes place in the basement gym of Hank Pym-or, in Rudd's words, "the Pymnasium"- where Empire is about to witness a class training montage. Fake sunlight is streaming through the windows. Then a fist socks Rudd in the face, and he goes down hard. "Ooh... Aaah... It hurts..." he moans into the mat. His opponent is Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), who follows her finishing move by dancing around her flattered foe. As the camera keeps rolling, Rudd attempts to get up, his knee squeaking against the mat ... that sounds a lot like prolonged flatulence. "Sorry," he says. "I'm on a very restricted diet."

Furthermore, Empire magazine goes on to explain how Scott Lang is unlike previous heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, given his combat style could use some improvement. "Scott's okay; he knows how to handle himself," Rudd told them in-between beat-downs from Lilly. "But okay is not going to cut it when it comes to fighting her. She knows her stuff." About the knee-farting gag, which he "perfected" while filming I Love You, Man, Paul Rudd says "there are probably cooler things to be known for." Rudd had later gushed about having his own action figure. "Crazy, isn't it?" he asked. "Though there actually is already an Anchorman action figure of me. I look like a cross between Wolverine and Robert Goulet." Meanwhile, Ant-Man director Peyton Reed also talks briefly about the movie. "The tone of this is unique," he said. "It has drama, it has comedy, it has a hero with a shitty van and a cut under his eye."  Very unique... What do you think?

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly, David Dastmalchian, Michael Pena, Bobby Cannavale, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, Wood Harris John Slattery and Gregg Turkington with multi-hyphenate T.I., and the film opens July 17, 2015

I seriously don't understand how people could be looking forward to this. It's almost guaranteed to fail. Only a miracle would prove otherwise.

@TheMarvelite

I guess you have a point. GotG had interesting trailers though. This... didn't. I hope future ones can change my mind, but I'm not feeling optimistic about this one. Nothing I've heard about Ant-Man has gotten me jazzed yet. I need to be jazzed.
