A Thought On Who Are The Earth Invading Aliens In THE AVENGERS Movie.

Is there a possibility that the mysterious Leviathan that was revealed in the film some time ago potentially be the also mysterious alien race in THE AVENGERS movie.
Well after a discussion with some buddies of mine we've come to this quick thought.

After looking at the alien invaders in the Super Bowl Spot teaser for THE AVENGERS i couldn't decide on who they might be. Maybe its our first glimpse of the Leviathan in the film. Its believe to be a sea monster but maybe the avengers wont be fighting a huge sea monster. Some think it could be the ship that the alien invaders will use to invade the earth.

These guys are the Leviathans an Mysterious Organization in the Marvel Universe (Earth-616) who gathered alien technology. They appeared in Secret Warriors Series featuring Nick Fury. So they have a connection to being in war with Nick Fury in the series.

They use what is called insectoid armor as do many of the Leviathan Soldiers do. They are more human than an different race. But alien doesn't mean being creatures just not from earth.

They don't look too similar to the invaders in the teaser but it could be organization's upcoming in the Marvel Universe or an Joss Whedon vison for the film. Similar to Anton Vanko's Whiplash first introduced in Iron Man comic and then had a role in the movie Iron Man 2.

I created this article just to give some people a thought on who the The Earth Mightiest Heroes might be at war with and saving the city from. Let me hear your guys thoughts on this.

frost giants hasn't 3 fingers on the foot..
however i think they could be actually those leviathans guys...they could resemble almost anything we saw from the movie...proto-insectoid armours, "who said they are aliens?" statement from joss whedon, and similar in some way with this last footage from the trailer...but i can't put in the mix the three fingers...maybe it's just as you said..they mixed two alien races from the comics, just like anton vanko/whiplash...mmmmm....

I think the large three toes could be a point of interest.

The Badoon have two large toes.

There are too many to be the Knights Of Wundagore.

The dull blue skin tone and body 'armour' look very similar to Lafey's when he's in Asgard, and about to kill Odin, but the feet don't match.

People say Atlanteans but if Namor is to be included in the future (rights being well) I would think they would be more humanoid.

The blue skin coupled with the 'masks' I am still gonna plump for The Kree. I know the feet should match that of a human but I would say the mask is breathing aparatus and their high-rise decent could account for their abilities in our gravity.

I'm thinking this 'Leviathon' is less to do with Atlantis and more the name of their large ship (which seems to be in view).

@jimo yeah i meant toes sorry :) however maybe yes they might be giants! (pun hehehehe) or actually atlantideans...not from seas, but a water realm from the nine worlds...and it could explain the rumoured mysterious villain...namor? he was hinted even in iron man 2....mmmmmm....can't wait!

I did some research on list of alien races from marvel and I came across a race called Alpha Centaurians. Their discription kind of matches wahat we seen in the trailer last night.

Alpha Centaurians possess gills and other adaptations enabling them to dwell beneath the sea. They possess two eyes, five fingers, and three webbed toes. Alpha Centaurians have built interstellar ships of intermediate capacity, able to attain near light speed.

Heres the link http://marvel.com/universe/Alpha_Centaurians

I love seeing all the speculation regarding what "Leviathan" is. It reminds me of Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men
