Marvel's The Avengers is the best and most successful superhero film of all time. Well, best to me but, let's not start up a war from that. As we all know, I feel that, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the best superhero sequel yet. For all we know, Age of Ultron could be the greatest sequel in the history of mankind. Who knows! I sure as hell don't. Want to know what I do know though? I know what I want to see in the sequel. Here are ten things I want to see in Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron!
10: "Avengers Assemble!"
Ah yes, the famous battle cry that Captain America shouts in the comics. I remember when I went to see Avengers all three times in the theaters (most time I saw the same movie in the theater) and while we got an equally satisfying moment in the film where we have the team in a circle and the camera pans around them. I can't help but want Captain America to shout those famous words at the beginning of the final battle against Ultron and his army. Also, I would like for them to not do what the new cartoon does and make it Tony Stark centric and have him be the leader. That pissed me off! Should've stuck with Avengers: Earth's Mightest Hereoes. That was a true Avengers show.
9: Tony's life in constant danger
Yes, this comes across but will likely not be a Tony Stark centric film. That being said, his creation in Ultron is probably one of the worst things Tony has ever done. Between the Hulkbuster suit, Ultron and Thor picking Tony up by the throat, I want suspense as Tony's life is constantly in danger because of the mistakes he has made by creating Ultron. Not to mention the tension caused in the group that would ultimately lead to guilt for Tony that I will bring up later in this article. No, no coma as stated in another user's article. But in this case, it's not a Tony centric film but he plays a rather integrel part of the film and creates suspense.
8: The Time Stone
Now, I don't know or see how this would factor into the film in general but, I would like to see the time stone be in the film. It would make sense as to why we have flashback scenes or something involving Peggy. Which if you ask me, her relationship with Steve is the most tragic in the MCU as well as a big emotional anchor. Plus, and this would somewhat be taking a page (not so literal, panel by panel) out of the story arc by having a character go back in time and either stop Ultron's creation or stop him before he becomes the ultimate threat that he becomes. That would be interesting. I would like to see that. Then again, I didn't realize until now that that's pretty similar to Days of Future Past. Oh well. Plus, I doubt this would happen because this would also create a problem with something else I want to see. A permanent death in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. More on that later.
7: Hulk leave the team
No, I don't want Hulk shot into space. Quite frankly that's a moronic idea and it would let fanboys believe that we will get a Hulk sequel. I lost interest in a Hulk sequel by 2011. Not to mention, it finanically doesn't make sense and Planet Hulk needs erased from existence. Sorry about that brief rant. That being said, have Bruce leave the team as he feels it's more dangerous than when he's on his own because at least he doesn't have to constantly worry about hulking out and eventually not come back. When the team loses its biggest muscle, how would they stop Thanos in Avengers 3? Well, it's a question Whedon would need to answer but, Hulk's arc would logically come to an end in Avengers 3.
6: Scarlet Witch get in Hulks head
Earth's Mightiest Heroes are in for a beating in this film. Not just physically but, psychologically as well. From Ultron to Scarlett Witch. Let's create more tension for the team. I want to see Bruce really get messed with and put on edge in this film. Scarlet Witch needs to get inside of Hulk's head. A meaner, angrier Hulk? No doubt would her getting inside of Hulk's head create that kind of Hulk. Just think of the imagery that Scarlet Witch would be able to create inside of the Hulk. Once he transforms back into Banner, no doubt he's never going to be the same for the rest of the film.
5: Ultron break the team up
Ultron needs to really damage the team. Ultron should get inside of their heads and break their bodies down so bad that by the time they take out Ultron, the team disbands what seems like for good. This would then set Cap up for that possible ending where he gets a team together as they continue his mission to search for Bucky. Tony does his own thing, Thor goes back to Asgard (more on that in a bit), Hulk leaves the team, etc. Ultron needs to be the reason that the Avengers disband between their own problems and while despite they saved New York in the first film, they helped create almost an apocalyptic world in Age of Ultron. The world is going to react to The Avengers now and right now, it doesn't look so good.
4: Thor question humanity
Thor does need a lot of big action moments in the film to make up for the first film but at the same time, he's spent sometime on Midgard. After Tony creates Ultron and Thor comes to battle with technology, this needs to create an arc for him in the film and give him some more development. Thor needs to question humanity and ultimately rethink and realize that, Ultron may be right. What if an Avenger realizes that Ultron has a point? If any Avenger could think such a thing, it would be Thor as he is not of Midgard. That would be great for more drama and dramatic tension between him and his team mates.
3: Set Up
Continuity is a guarantee as Joss Whedon had the task to pick up where we left off not just in The Avengers but also has to assume we've seen the other films. That being said, I want to see set up. Not for Ant-Man. But for characters that make sense to set up for. Maybe Carol Danvers gets a name drop as someone Rhodey works with or has some association with. But the big one I'm after here is definitely that of, Black Panther. The world reacting to The Avengers and an obvious invasion going to happen in, Wakanda. It's almost essential that this sets up Black Panther as he could pop up in Cap 3 to encounter him while Cap searches for Bucky has Cap is an Avenger and Black Panther blames The Avengers for deaths in his country as well as the invasion in the first place. Not to mention furthering set up for a Black Panther solo film in Phase Three.
2: An Arc for Vision
I'm not talking the arc we all know happens in the film. I genuinely want to see how this android becomes more human. I want to see him emote and rise against Ultron, maybe even be the one to defeat him. But as in the great tv show, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of Vision getting killed in battle by Ultron. It would create an arc for Vision and while it would mean eliminating the idea of a relationship between him and Scarlet Witch, I think it would just make for ultimately a more satisfying film as well as an emotional arc because this android essentially becomes human and sacrifices himself for us. The one thing he and Ultron were trying to eradicate.
1; Black Widow's death
This is what I was eluding to earlier as far as a death goes. I feel it would be a mistake if they didn't take out Black Widow. Here's why: The roster needs to grow and change, we get to know her pretty much in her entirety in the film thus ending an arc for her but giving us a potential new one, her death would cause an emotional ripple in the team and within the audience also causing the main tension in the film. Particularly causing the Hulk vs Hulkbuster battle. Not to mention that a Black Widow solo film is as unnecessary as a Hulk sequel. Scarlett Johansson is becoming a bigger star and she doesn't want to keep playing this character not to mention she's a fan favorite. It was never confirmed that someone would die, Hawkeye is confirmed to survive the film along with Cap, Iron Man, Thor and Hulk so, Black Widow dying makes the most sense. PLUS, it would allow character expansion and opportunities for Hawkeye.
That's all I got. What do you guys think? Agree? Disagree? What do you want to see in the film? Comment and be respectful.
