With Daniel Craig set to step down as the Ian Fleming super spy following the release of the upcoming Bond 25 in 2019 converstaions inevitably turn to who will take on the mantle next. Theorising and casting 007 is as quintessential and historic an English national pastime as fox hunting and flooding a nation with opium while destabilising a continent is.
Many names have been thrown around in recent years as to who could be nect for the role with regular frontrunners being Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy and the not named Tom, Idris Elba -- but now another name has entered the ether: Thor Odinson himself Mr Chris Hemsworth.
In an interview on Australian morning show Sunrise the Thor: Ragnarok actor was asked about potentially following Daniel Craig as the British agent to which he had this to say:
"Yeah, I think any actor would jump at that oppportunity. I'm certainly a fan. A whole lot of pressire comes with that though. I think the Bond fan base is probably more critical than the comic book fanbase. But I don't know, there's plenty of guys that would do a better job than I would. Plenty of English men or women that could probably take over that one... I feel it's sort of an English world."
While Bond is somewhat synonymous with England, to date only two of the actors to portray him in the EON produced franchise have actually been from that country, the others hailing from elsewhere on the isle and within the commenwealth.
Hemsworth wouldn't be the first Ausrtalian to adopt the Tuxedo and Walther either with On Her Majesty's Secret Service lead George Lazenby coming from the land down under (and the former Wolverine star Hugh Jackman was at one time offered the part but turned it down)
What do you think? Would you like to seee Hemsworth walk the gunbarrel? If not who would you like to suit up as 007? Leave your comment below.
