AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Co-Director Compares It To A Heist Movie; Thanos This Generation's Darth Vader?

Co-director Joe Russo has revealed that Avengers: Infinity War will take its cues from 90s heist films as Earth's Mightiest Heroes try to track down the Infinity Stones and promises big things from Thanos.

Thanos hasn't made much of an impact in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after brief appearances in the first two Avengers movies and Guardians of the Galaxy but that looks set to change in a big way next year with the release of Infinity War. Co-director Joe Russo seems confident in the Man Titan's chances of stealing the show too as he believes he could rival iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader!

"The stakes are incredibly high," the filmmaker revealed at Comic-Con this weekend. "I wanted to turn Thanos into Darth Vader for a new generation. He’s an incredibly intense character. Sociopathic. He takes no prisoners. I think the audience needs to be prepared when they go see these movies."

It sounds like he's going to make his presence felt in a particularly brutal way then but rather than two hours of the villain beating the holy living hell out of Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the Guardians of the Galaxy, it seems Avengers: Infinity War will feature a race with Thanos to gather the Infinity Stones.

"Structurally, with this first film, Avengers 3, we’ve been using smash and grab ’90s heist films," Joe said of his and Anthony's main influence here. "There’s a real urgency to the film and it adds a level of excitement and relentlessness to the movie. It’s a lot of divergent narratives coming together
into a climax." So, we can probably expect Thanos to have all the Stones by the time the credits roll!

That would take us nicely into Avengers 4 as what's left of the heroes attempt to come together and stop Thanos for good. What do you guys think? Be sure to share your thoughts and theories down.

just send the Ant-Man, let him throw shrinking devices on all Infinity Stones and hide them somewhere. also he can shrink Thanos. wonder if that would work.
