AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Star Josh Brolin On Seeing All Those Shocking Deaths For The First Time

Josh Brolin may have known all about Thanos' finger snap in Avengers: Infinity War but in a new interview, the actor reveals when exactly he found out just how many heroes he was responsible for killing...

There have been a lot of great Marvel Studios movies but none of them has a more shocking ending than the moment the Mad Titan used the Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out half of all known life in the universe in Avengers: Infinity War. However, such was the level of secrecy surrounding that pivotal moment that not even Josh Brolin knew it was coming until he watched the movie at the premiere.

It seems only those who died were actually in on it (Elizabeth Olsen recently revealed that only a handful of actors were made aware of their fates - in a van - before it was shot) so Brolin was understandably left reeling. "I was literally sitting in the theater going, ‘Oh my God. Oh my God. Spider-Man just disintegrated. That’s not OK. I looked at Hemsworth and he looked at me. He smiled and was like, ‘Your career is over.’" You can see why he might feel that way but they're coming back.

Well, that's the hope anyway! For now, Brolin is taking the reaction from fans all in his stride. "On Instagram people are posting things like, ‘I hate you,’" he said. "That’s fantastic. I’m, like, the one guy who smiles when he sees that. It’s like, ‘It worked.’" It's hard to argue with that and seeing as the Mad Titan will inevitably get what's coming to him in Avengers 4, those same fans will no doubt miss Thanos a year from now, especially as he's arguably the best villain the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had.

What do you guys think? As always, share your thoughts on that in the comments section below.

@AngryCipher - that line wasn't said during the movie actually. I wonder if it's a recorded line from avengers 4 or just got left on the cutting room floor and added to trailers

That's awesome. I just wish they could film audience reactions during the premieres. Would be so much fun to see their faces when cool/surprising moments happen.

@AngryCipher - I want to see the stars' reactions, not the average Joe's. They've got endless videos of that on Youtube.

@MosquitoFarmer - That's the #1 reason i keep watching the bootlegs online. To hear the crowd reactions! It's awesome! Especially the reactions to the ending!!! It almost feels like I'm in the actual theater. They should add that to the DVD and make it an alternate viewing option.

I'm not the biggest Brolin fan, but him getting a kick out of affecting people like that is exactly what you want in an actor for a character like Thanos. It's similar to Evans' earnestness feeding into Cap and RDJ's inherent Starkyness.

Thanos has a way of doing something that (to him) is impersonal, and yet it becomes deeply personal. And it's like he gets a thrill out of that. That's what I'm getting from Brolin, here. The pleasure that comes from apathetic cruelty.

(In a super low-stakes way, obviously. It's all just movies and yadda-yadda.)

@Spock0Clock - I loved how he explained why Thanos wouldn't double the resources: He's TOO CALLOUS.

Basically, what Brolin is getting at here is that Thanos just doesn’t care about the people of the universe, he seems to only care about the universe itself and its survival as it relates to his own goals. What that seems to mean is that Thanos views living creatures as necessary to the universe’s overall survival, just not the amount that it had, so he views killing them as the way to obtain the balance he seeks. His problem after all wasn’t that life existed, it’s that too much life existed, so if he made more resources, he’d probably think there were too many resources now.

@AngryCipher - I don't like hearing anything political out of the mouths of actors because it just turns me off and affects overall enjoyment of their product.

Keep you politics in your pocket is the best advice for any actor.

@411IDSigo - What are you talking about? he was given lines and he read them out. It would be political if he refused.

LoL, no offense but that was a really snowflakey comment.

@AngryCipher - You obviously didn't watch the entire clip. If you had you would have seen where he was comparing Trump and Thanos because Colbert only knows how to go political.
He has Trump Derangement Syndrome.

So either learn to watch the entire clip that you post, or shut your mouth because you don't know what you're talking about.

And you really don't want to get into it with me.
