AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Star Robert Downey Jr. Casually Reminds Marvel Fans What's Coming In 2018

If you're a Marvel fan, you probably have May 4, 2018 circled on your calendar. That's the day Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters, sending 10 years of Marvel Cinematic Universe build-up into a spiral of chaos and destruction.

Just to make sure you didn't forget, Robert Downey Jr., who plays Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, reminded us of the highly anticipated film's release on social media. Taking to Instagram, the actor, who has played Iron Man for 10 years now, posted a simple reminder of Infinity War's release date while wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

#HappyNewYear, everyone! Just a little reminder of what we have to look forward to...

Simple, but effective. Honestly, he doesn't need to say much else as Avengers: Infinity War is already the most anticipated movie of 2018. Thanos and his forces of destruction arrive on May 4, 2018.

While you're at it, you may want to mark your calendars for other Marvel movies coming this year: Black Panther on February 16, 2018, and Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6, 2018. There's plenty of other films in Marvel's pipeline but let's take it one year at a time for now.

Marvel has done a great job for the most part with casting starting with RDJ.

@LaserKing - Yeah MCU casting has been on point since the very beginning.

RDJ, Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow
Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Stanley Tucci, Tommy Lee Jones
Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins

@TheManWithoutFear - The list of not on point is very short indeed.

@LaserKing - Even the ones that didn't work out I still feel like they were good or even great on paper. I love Cheadle, but Howard was a good pick, too. And Norton was my fancast for Hulk before it was announced.

No one bats 1000, but it's not been for lack of trying.

@Spock0Clock - IMHO Howard was the only big miss. I just don't see him as Rhodey.

@TheManWithoutFear - Lots of big names who, for the most part, did well. Let's not forget Robert Redford. Even AOS got into the act with Bill Paxton as the season 1 big bad. They get great actors and give them good lines to read.

@LaserKing - I’d argue Don Cheadle was not their best. I really liked Terrance Howard as Rhodey much better.

@PewPewPew - I agree with that one! Boy I bet Terrance would want a redo.

I have a feeling this will break TFA's opening weekend record...

@Trumpool -

It likely will, easily.

Each of the character has an established fan-base and even if some characters only appeal to certain people, putting them all together should bring all the fans from each of those individual characters fan-base together.

@Trumpool - i am not sure myself. in comparison, there is an appeal that star wars has being a movie collection and general buzz since the 70s but a lot of marvel's pull is more recent even though they have had comics forever. if the russo's really pull it together it will buzz past the other two avengers movies... if it is too dark it may struggle like AoU did. i am not sure it will beat TFA either light or dark in mood.

@Trumpool - Keeping up with Infinity War's box office will be a treat in and of itself.
