AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Writers Reveal Who Broke The News Of Gamora's Death To James Gunn

Avengers: Infinity War made some sweeping changes to the Guardians of the Galaxy, including killing one of their members! Now, the movie's writers reveal who broke that news to filmmaker James Gunn...

Avengers: Infinity War gave the Guardians of the Galaxy a much bigger role than anyone expected. Despite it being known at the time that James Gunn was planning to take the helm of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it left them in a very different place to where we last found them.

As you might expect, Gunn was consulted and obviously offered some input when the Russo Brothers put Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame together.

However, when it came to who would break the news to the filmmaker that Gamora was to be killed by Thanos, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely reveal that it was Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige who sat down with Gunn for that particular discussion. Something tells us that it must have been a decision he was on board with, though, and it wasn't done for the sake of it.

In Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy threequel, he will have the opportunity to pick up on the events of the last two Avengers movies to explore what happens next with Gamora. She left her timeline before ever meeting the likes of Star-Lord and Groot, and both killed her sister and betrayed her father in a future she was completely unfamiliar with.

Needless to say, that leaves Gunn with plenty of ground to cover a few years from now...

Gamora's death was unexpected and a great scene but it didn't make me one bit sad for whatever reason. I just felt like it was necessary to move the story.

Her death was way more impactful than Black Widow’s in my opinion. Both were integral to the story, but I felt more when it happened to Gamora.

I still think it’s wild that only TWO heroes died in Endgame. Like, I get that the other characters have their own movies essentially and a death in Endgame wouldn’t have given them enough “justice” maybe, but c’mon...only Tony dies in that final battle? Huge death, yes, but c’mon...

@LNBfett12 - We lose Cap too. Three of the most major players gone in Endgame. What you on about?

@LNBfett12 - two heroes, but countless Asgardians, wakandans, ravages etc. Our heroes are formidable beings who worked as a team and all have some kind of power. Arguably the most vulnerable would have been hawkeye on that field. Maybe mantis.

We also lost Steve Rogers

We didn't lose the wife-stealer. He's still around.

@Nebula I don’t consider Cap, since he’s still alive. I didn’t say BW wasn’t major, I just didn’t feel much for her death compared to Gamora since Gamora was so caught off guard in that moment.

IW literally killed Loki and Heimdall right off the bat so I was like 😳

Stark’s death is the biggest no doubt, I’m just saying how more minor characters didn’t kick it. In a huge battle, the last chapter essentially in an entire arc of movies. C’mon, you can take some people outta the picture, but I guess they needed to make Stark’s death all that more bigger. I get it. Just my opinion.

Got me right in the feels. Because i realized that he would have to do something, but when he just grabbed her and flung her off the cliff...yikes.

They're really gonna have to work on that "deadliest woman in the galaxy" rep for Gamora. It's kinda laughable.

The death really took me by surprise. Definitely up there for one of the best MCU scenes
