AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR's Biggest Action Scene Will Be Larger In Scale Than CIVIL WAR's Airport Battle

The Russo Brothers talk here about just how big the biggest action scene in Avengers: Infinity War is going to be as well as spilling the beans on just how high the stakes are going to be for the heroes.

You may recall that the Russo Brothers described that epic airport battle in Captain America: Civil War as a "splash page" ahead of the movie's release and it definitely ended up delivering in that respect.

In terms of sheer scale, Avengers: Infinity War is obviously going to be even bigger than the movie which pitted Earth's Mightiest Heroes against each other and that's obviously going to be reflected in the action scenes. Asked if the Marvel Studios movie has an "equivalent" of that epic splash page, both Joe and Anthony Russo were quick to point out that they're going to deliver in a big way here.

You call the big airport scene in Civil War your big splash page, do you have the equivalent of that in this movie?

Joe: We have like an equivalent that’s like, you know if you had a comic book and you open it up to your double panel and then you fold it out. And then you folded it out again and again.

Anthony: And you have another comic book laid out next to it.

Joe: So we have the equivalent of that in this movie.

Well, it sounds like we can definitely expect to have our minds blown when April 27th rolls around!

It's not just the action scenes which are going to be bigger, though, because Anthony went on to address the stakes for our favourite heroes when they do battle with Thanos and it sounds like both The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy are going to get a lot more than they bargained for.

"We’ll say this. We like mature storytelling. We like dramatic storytelling. We like intense storytelling. I think we appreciate conflict, and we appreciate stakes. And without stakes, there really isn’t a lot of value to the story. And I think if you look at the Marvel [Cinematic] Universe as a whole as a story that’s been told for ten years, you can look at this as the climax. And the stakes will be higher in this movie than they’ve ever been, times ten."

I remember sitting back in my chair when they were lined up and running towards each other. Was pretty damn epic.

@Kevwebsz - Honestly, when they showed that in the first trailer (I think it was the first trailer), I cringed a little and assumed it was just shot for the trailer, but it ended up being pretty damn cool in the movie.

@Kevwebsz- how do you feel when you notice Vision was missing for 99% of the entire battle? He showed up, didnt fight a single person, then takes out Rhodey easily at the end.

@mAdFaD - Actually it's not explicitly stated, but in their commentary, it's clear vision is the last line of defense. He's flying high watching from a distance and only acts when needed so that Team Cap can't sneak away. That's why he gets involved when Cap snuck past Tony the first time. When Panther was in mortal danger, and when Ant-man grew. Had he not been distracted by Wanda, there was no way for Cap to get out the airport

@Deonox - Late response on my part, but thanks for explaining this. Alas, let me make this clear: I shouldn't have to scour the internet for an explanation on a film, or spend extra $ on dvd for commentary and deleted scenes that are important.

Of course, the depressed, disappointed DC fanboy in me also gets relief when seeing a Marvel (rare) imperfection lol.

I'd expect nothing less than for the Russos to outdo their glorious airport battle. Can't freaking wait!!

TV spot/Teaser.

Hope the final battle is not the Wakanda one, that feels more like a mid-movie battle. Russo's said the film would escalate in scale and to me SPOILERS throwing a moon and other space/reality warping stuff kind of feels like it'd be more suited to a final battle.

So you're telling me a battle between two armies is going to be larger in scale than a battle involving 12 people?
