While Thanos has appeared in three Marvel Studios move to date, it won't be until Avengers: Infinity War that we get to really know the Mad Titan. It was clear from that leaked trailer that the villain is going to do some truly horrible things to Earth's Mightiest Heroes but is Josh Brolin worried about fans hating him for what Thanos is about to do to the likes of Star-Lord, Doctor Strange and The Vision?

"Dude, I’m in a position just personally where not everybody loves me and that’s okay (laughs). Look, not everybody can be on your side all the time and that’s okay. When playing a character like this, dude, it’s like there’s something—I don’t know any other way to put it, it really turned out to be one of the greatest experiences I’ve had. I’m still not done, but it’s been incredible to be able to work with the Russos, to be able to work with these guys. I had no idea. It’s just a different type of acting, but then when they showed me a little six-minute teaser of a scene that I had done, I was so blown away by how next-level this digital process is and how real it feels. I don’t know how I could be anything but happy. If everybody hates me at the end of it, I don’t know, will it be worth it if it’s a great movie? Maybe."

I'm pretty sure that fans won't actually hate Brolin after Avengers: Infinity War is released but it depends on just how many terrible things Thanos winds up doing and how many of our favourite superheroes he takes out. Either way, Brolin is confident that Thanos is going to be a truly terrifying and complex character who fans can root for or against. "I can’t tell you definitively, but how I feel right now and what I’ve spoken to the Russos about and Feige, absolutely. It actually more than pulls it off, and I think what they’re coming up with based on what I’ve done, I think is next level."

As for what it's like working with Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo, he added:

"Look, I got Joe Russo who’s constantly resourcing like The Godfather and, ‘You have a gun to his [frick]ing head.’ I’m like, ‘I love you so much. The fact that you’re taking an Avengers scenario and you’re turning it into a Godfather thing for us to be able to kind of hang our hat on is great, and to emotionalize the whole thing.’ I think they were very happy where they said, ‘We didn’t really realize that Thanos is going to be as complex as he is,’ and I think they were very appreciative with the stuff that we’re bringing to it. Also, I think that they’re in a position very openly and raw-ly where they’re like, ‘We would never do this again. This is a one-time deal. To put this many successful actors together is such a pain in the ass, but it’s been worth it. We’re doing two movies. One back to back, and this is it for us. Then we’ll go off in another direction,’ but this is a very, very, very ambitious project that I think is going to pay off in a big way."

Sounds awesome, right? Thanos will make his presence felt in both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 and he'll be joined by a Black Order made up of his children. Are you excited to see what Brolin brings to the table here? Let us know your thoughts on his remarks in the comments section.

The Russos and Markus and McFeely are the best thing to happen to Marvel imo (also Coogler who i think is gonna do special things for them as well).

Honestly I can’t even believe this movie is happening. I remember seeing Iron Man when I was 7 and being stunned, wanting to build my own armor the instant I got home. I still recall just how floored I was when I saw the Avengers when I was 11, watching the camera spin around them all. Though I may have not understood all the references then and even miss some now, I feel like this film will be the culmination of my childhood, and I feel so lucky to have grown up hearing about this characters from my dad and having him explain it to me, and seeing these people in games and animated shows, and now getting to see so many of them on the Big Screen and given the movie or show they deserve, introducing me to new characters so often and creating this beautiful scores and memorable moments. I know this might be a bit too much positivity for some on this site, but I have really high hopes for this film.
Can’t wait for it 😅
