SPOILERS: 10 Most Likely Possibilities For The AVENGERS 4 Title After Seeing AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
Avengers: Infinity War is now playing in theaters and it's fair to say the epic ensemble has given us some ideas about what the sequel should be called! Here, you'll find the most likely possibilities...
Avengers: Infinity War just killed off pretty much all of our favourite superheroes and to add insult to injury, Marvel Studios put "Thanos Will Return" right at the very end. You're not funny, Kevin! Now we've seen Earth's Mightiest Heroes fall before the Mad Titan, speculation is running rampant about what Avengers 4 will be called, a movie the studio has decided to keep a secret for the time being.
We don't know exactly when that's going to be revealed but this year's Comic-Con seems like a safe bet, especially as Ant-Man and The Wasp will be in theaters by then. In the meantime, we have some pretty solid ideas about what the follow-up will be called and you can find our favourite ideas by clicking either one of the buttons below. Both the comics and movie have provided some big clues...
Avengers: The Thanos Imperative
This title would definitely be unexpected, especially as it's based on a storyline with little to no relevance to what's currently happening in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, if The Avengers are going to have to come together to track down Thanos and try and undo the damage he's inflicted on trillions of lives, them making the Mad Titan their mission would ensure this name makes works.
New Avengers
This almost feels like the sort of title Marvel Studios should use for the fifth Avengers movie but considering the fact we'll potentially see a rather unexpected team come together next year, this has some potential! Throw in the fact the sequel will probably end with a brand new roster made up of characters like Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man, and New Avengers really fits the bill.
Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet
Kevin Feige has jokingly denied that the Avengers: Infinity War follow-up will be called this but why wouldn't it be? After all, we saw that Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet was destroyed after he snapped his fingers and so it would make perfect sense for Earth's Mightiest Heroes to have to race him to Nidivellir to retrieve the other one that's there and for the storyline to revolve around the powerful weapon.
Avengers Disassembled
After what Thanos did to Earth's Mightiest Heroes at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, this might have been a better title for the movie we've just watched! However, if Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor are all going to rally what remains of their fellow heroes to take down the Mad Titan and make one last stand, this title could definitely work as we witness the end of The Avengers as we know them.
Avengers Assemble
We've now had three Avengers movies (four if you count Captain America: Civil War) and we've yet to hear someone say "Avengers Assemble!" That has to happen in this fourth instalment as Earth's Mightiest Heroes unite to take down Thanos and that's what makes this potential title so fitting. The only possible problem is that 2012's The Avengers was given this name in some overseas markets.
Avengers Forever
Both The Avengers and moviegoers alike will be heading into Avengers 4 hoping to see the characters come together to take Thanos down and bring back their friends and family, so why not give the sequel an inspirational title which will inspire people to rally behind Earth's Mightiest Heroes? It also makes it clear that no matter what losses they suffer in the follow-up, this superhero team is going nowhere.
Avengers: The End
This is an ominous title but one which brings this era of The Avengers and Marvel Cinematic Universe to a close. There's also precedent in the comic books for "The End" to be attached to a story wrapping up the arcs of characters and while it's simple, it would almost certainly get fans talking. Phase 4 marks a fresh start for this world and our favourite heroes so the movie will indeed be the end in many ways.
Avengers: Annihilation
With the Fantastic Four on their way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's entirely feasible that we'll get a big screen adaptation of Annihilation somewhere down the line but it certainly wouldn't hurt for Marvel Studios to use the title before then. After all, if Thanos loses the plot and looks to wipe out what remains of the universe, it really will be annihilation as everything is then put on the line.
Avengers: Infinity Crusade
The comic book version of Infinity Crusade was a sequel to Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War, and while there's not much in the source material which would probably end up influencing the movie, borrowing the title would be no bad thing. After all, Earth's Mightiest Heroes will need to go on a crusade of sorts if they hope to give Thanos the beating he deserves and finally set things right.
Avengers: Endgame
In Avengers: Infinity War, Doctor Strange mentions that the heroes are entering the "Endgame" and so it's easy to see why so many fans are now under the belief that the sequel will receive this title. Honestly, it makes perfect sense and seeing as Kevin Feige has made it clear that fans could end up being disappointed after building up their expectations, an obvious possibility like this makes sense.
