The release of Marvel's Avengers is fast approaching, and the cover art for the upcoming "Art of the Game" has now been revealed. Release by Titan Books, it's set to go on sale during the first week of September, and promises to be a must-have for any fans looking forward to this video game.

According to the officially released description, the book "features intimate studies of the Avengers, their designs, outfits, gear, and abilities, plus a detailed look at the different environments and missions in the game."

"Unmasking the artistry behind the hotly anticipated videogame, this showpiece hardback book contains exclusive concept sketches, character art, storyboards, and fully rendered scenes alongside fascinating insights into the creative process from the talented creators of the game."

Sounds good, right? So, where does that aforementioned spoiler come into play? Well, as you can see, an armoured Captain America is pictured alongside the rest of the team here despite the fact that the opening chapters of Marvel's Avengers reportedly kill off Steve Rogers. Fighting alongside the likes of Ms. Marvel and Thor, the hero is quite clearly among the living in this artwork.

Crazy that this is an article considering you could be completely wrong... do you retract the article or give back your paycheck when Cap stays dead?

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - for real man, whenever I see a guy in at the centre of every poster of a game I automatically assume he's dead. This is very shocking.

Plot twist of the century!! Who would have guessed they Captain freakin’ America doesn’t die in the opening mission?

Besides, not to be that guy, but it was already leaked that he would be alive (the achievements). This is just more confirmation

Why the hell is Hulk wearing gauntlets? What does he need gauntlets for? Everytime we see these designs that look worse and worse.

That artwork is awful. Once again, looks like a third-rate knock-off. This is just embarrassing.

This game feels like they held back too much on the antagonist and went WAAAAYYYYY too far forward on the hero side of things. This is the launch of what I'm sure they hope is a franchise and we're already onto cliches like super-earthly-apathetic Thor and everyone getting an Iron Man suit.

I don't think it's fair to compare so much of what we don't like about this game to Marvel Spider-Man, since this has been in development since before it came out, but it's crazy how seemingly ill advised this is compared to what that game ended up being (a non-origin story that still managed to play like we were opening up the world as we went along)

@AzulaCipher - I really feel like it may have been better to do this as an origin for the Avengers as a whole. Part of what feels so played out with the interactions I've seen so far is that it seems to be relying on relationships we know these characters have from the movies that are unconnected. If they started with you playing as Kamala assembling the Avengers from a roster of known and popular heroes it would've at least given us a chance to see the relationships grow which would make things feel more natural

This game isn't appealing to me as yet. I'll have to wait for the reviews

Going off what we've seen so far I think it would have been better to have actual comic gear as opposed to random Stark Tech stuff. Cap and Widow look like guest characters from Injustice on that cover(I'd kill for a Marvel character in the next Injustice)

The designs are whatever, but the gameplay is what's really been disappointing so far. It just... doesn't look very fun
