AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Concept Art Charts Thanos' Journey From A Teenager To A Villainous Adult

It's no secret that Avengers: Infinity War was supposed to explore Thanos' past, as we learned that he was ostracised as a youth due to his deformed appearance before later pleading with his fellow Titans to cull half the population in order to save the planet from its inevitable destruction.

Now, Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meindering has shared some amazing concept art revealing the Mad Titan's progression from a young adult to a full-blown villain.

It would have been a lot of fun to see Thanos' history explored in this way, but none of his backstory ultimately made it past the scripting stages and he instead explained what happened during interactions with characters like Gamora and Doctor Strange. Needless to say, it would have been amazing to witness the villain as a young man and not just as the MCU's most formidable bad guy.

Teenage Thanos must've been a mega edgelord. "Life is like, totally overrated man!"

@BountyCipher - Oh, of course comic's Thanos wants more than just to "bang" Death (thinks about the logistics of boning a skeleton, then moves on). His desire to prove something to Lady Death, to court her honor is interesting imo, although, I'm not sure how that would've played out in a film.

@BountyCipher - “ I've done things I'm not proud of. I've hurt worlds, and I'm going to hurt more. It's impossible to avoid for what I'm trying to do. But I take no pleasure in it... in cruelty. But this universe isn't a caterpillar. It doesn't spin a cocoon and wake up a butterfly. A universe crumbles and fades. It needs to die before it can be reborn.”

Good. Glad it wasn't in the movie. We don't want to see our villains as kids.

Probably best they left it out. The Internet is a harsh judge - we'd probably have memes poking fun at "Baby Thanos".
