6 Wild AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Story Predictions You Can Take To The Bank

With production on Avengers: Infinity War now under way, we look at all the rumours and fan theories to come up with six plot predictions which we're pretty sure will end up becoming a reality in 2018...

Avengers: Infinity War has started shooting in Atlanta, and with it set to film back to back with the currently untitled fourth instalment of the franchise, it's going to a long few months of various actors from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe making their way to and from the set. When Marvel will reveal some official details remains to be seen, but chances are it won't be for quite some time.

However, there are lots of rumours and fan theories out there, and what you'll find here are my thoughts on at least six things we can expect to see happen in this highly anticipated release.

With some, there's evidence that these could actually happen, and while others are pretty outlandish suggestions, I think you'll still enjoy them! So, from a new costume for one hero to the debut of others and an unexpected battle for Earth's Mightiest Heroes, be sure to check back here a year from now to see how many of these come true! For now, though, read on for these six exciting possibilities...

6. Spider-Man Is Getting His Alien Costume

While it may feel like it's too soon to head down this particular route, Spider-Man coming out of Avengers: Infinity War without the alien costume would be a huge blunder. I'm positive Marvel will have thought the exact same thing, and with the suit provided to him by Tony Stark damaged or destroyed at some point, the wall-crawler coming across the symbiote makes perfect sense. The movie could even leave things on something of a cliffhanger for Peter Parker to show up with his alien costume down the line already enjoying the benefits of organic webbing and enhanced strength but feeling oddly tired.

Of course, all of this would have to ultimately lead to the debut of Eddie Brock, and it would be wise to keep his Sin-Eater related origin story (or at least a version of it) rather than following the Ultimate Universe by making him and Peter old friends. Venom is a character who could then take centre stage in the third Spider-Man solo movie, but this all leads back to Infinity War and it's there that I'm positive this costume will first appear. Spider-Man 3 dropped the ball on pretty much everything about it, but Marvel can make up for that here in a big way. Honestly, this not happening would be a huge shock as the potential the suit and Venom have is absolutely massive.

5. Adam Warlock Will Finally Arrive In The MCU

If Peter Dinklage's new hairdo is any indication, he's almost certainly taking on the role of Pip the Troll in Avengers: Infinity War. Where he's found, Adam Warlock quickly follows, and common sense says this character is about to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a big way. His inclusion is entirely natural, especially when you consider the fact that Warlock played a key role in the entire "Infinity" trilogy and the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe in general. Teased in Guardians of the Galaxy, I can imagine him playing a pivotal part in both these movies, especially as someone needs to be an expert on the Infinity Stones and deliver some no doubt much-needed exposition to the audience and Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

In many ways, it feels like the final battle between the heroes and Thanos should hinge in a hero like Captain America or Thor, and while I'm sure they'll get their moments, everything coming down to Adam is no bad thing. So, if I'm so sure he'll appear, who do I think will play him? I'm hedging my bets on Ryan Gosling or John Krasinski. Both actors have been considered by Marvel in the past and would be a great fit.

4. Captain America Says "Avengers Assemble!"

I mean, it has to happen here, right? As a farewell of sorts to fans, Joss Weedon teased it at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, but you have to believe that Marvel has been saving this moment for their biggest movie yet. We don't know how closely to the comic books this movie will stick, but Thanos wiping out half the universe and some fan-favourite heroes is inevitable, and would no doubt be the perfect moment for Captain America to rally what's left of the troops and cry, "Avengers Assemble!" It's been a long time coming, and with the team split pretty much in two following the events of Captain America: Civil War, it's also something which could help to unite this divided faction against their greatest enemy to date.

Another moment related to Steve Rogers (because let's face it, he has to be the one to say "Avengers Assemble!") is the destruction of his shield after he goes toe to toe with the Mad Titan. That's a moment which is simply too iconic not to make it to the big screen, so expect to see it somewhere in Avengers: Infinity War along with this iconic battle cry. Marvel could give it to someone else of course, but it's a like mean for Steve, and while the temptation to have Iron Man say it is probably there, I think there's only one hero we really need and want to call it out!

3. Earth's Mightiest Heroes Head To Asgard

Everyone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has pretty much just accepted the fact that Thor is a God, and that's a shame in many ways because the moment Earth's Mightiest Heroes see Asgard for the first time would have been a lot more special had they had their doubts (see: The Ultimates 2). Regardless, I fully expect The Avengers to end up making their first trip to Asgard in Avengers: Infinity War, especially as the God of Thunder will need some serious backup when Thanos comes calling for the Tesseract and perhaps even some revenge on Loki after he let him and his Chiaturi army down a few years back.

Over the years, we've never really spent as much time in Asgard as we probably should have, so throwing the likes of Iron Man, Ant-Man, and Spider-Man into this mystical realm for the first time would offer up a fresh perspective on it and lead to some no doubt epic imagery. We already know that this movie is going to take us to a lot of new worlds, but Asgard should be among them as the sight of The Avengers assembling on the Rainbow Bridge really would be something special and something completely new we haven't seen before.

2. The Avengers Vs. Guardians Of The Galaxy

Marvel has yet to comment on the Guardians of the Galaxy showing up in Avengers: Infinity War, but enough actors have confirmed their presence at this point to make their role pretty damn official. When they do arrive on Earth (presumably to take on Thanos), they're going to met The Avengers, and if that doesn't immediately lead to some hero vs. hero fighting, I'll be very shocked. To Iron Man and company, this lot will look like another group of aliens quite likely in league with Thanos, while Star-Lord and his team will have absolutely no idea about Peter Quill's old home being full of colourful superheroes!

It only needs to last a few minutes, but characters like Gamora and Black Widow or Rocket Raccoon and Spider-Man coming to blows would he a hell of a lot of fun and creates an interesting dynamic between these heroes for the rest of the movie. Had things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe panned out a little differently, an Avengers vs. Guardians movie could have actually been on the cards at some point, and while they'll have to work together here, don't expect them to get on from the first moment they cross paths! Vin Diesel has already said he wants to pit Groot against The Hulk, and that's just one of many dream matches we could end up seeing here.

1. Thanos Gets The Infinity Gauntlet

No sh*t Sherlock, right? Well, while Thanos getting The Infinity Gauntlet here is obvious, I have a few thoughts on how all that is going to go down. For starters, I expect a huge chunk of this movie to be dedicated to Thanos trying to get the various Stones. To do so, he'll need to pay a visit to everywhere from the home of the Nova Corps to Asgard and Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum, and that's not something which can be handled in a quick montage. As a result, don't be surprised to see The Avengers chasing down Thanos for most of Avengers: Infinity War, something which will lead to them reuniting and crossing paths with previously mentioned characters like Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Thanos will ultimately get his hands on the completed Gauntlet, but not until the final act, and it's there that we may see our favourite heroes taken down leading to a cliffhanger of sorts where they have to retreat to lick their wounds and regroup to launch an attack on him in the currently untitled Avengers 4. That may feel like something of an unsatisfying ending, but it should help build excitement and will serve as a cliffhanger of sorts to lead us directly into the next instalment, especially if a number of fan-favourites are seemingly killed...

Yeah. Think it's too soon to start thinking about Spidey wearing the alien suit. Need more time to appreciate the current one and all it's splendor.

@SuperCat - I think they can begin the symbiote story there, maybe wait a while for it to find Peter.

@SuperCat - It's the opportunity they have to take Peter off-world. Maybe he finds, sees how powerful he is when connected to it but Stark captures it fearing it's dangerous.

Then in the future when Peter's fighting some badass villain(s) he remembers it and steals the suit to kick ass.

@GrammerNazi - by "last story" you mean spider man 3 or something from the comics?

Cause the black suit era (the original post secret wars one) was [frick]ing great.
