Avengers: Infinity War doesn't waste any time leaping straight into the action as we catch up with Thor and Loki mere moments after Thanos and his Black Order have laid waste to their ship and killed off half of the Asgardians who fled from Asgard before it was destroyed by Surtur. The Mad Titan then stabs Heimdall in the chest and breaks Loki's neck in what seems like a definitive end for them both.

So, what was the feeling on set like the day these two Marvel Cinematic Universe staples ended up saying goodbye? "A lot of days on this movie were emotional, not just if anything that drastic happened, but just characters that have been around for so long, or for whom the actor is their most identifiable role, or it’s a role that started them on their current giant career path," Feige explains.

"Not just a big dramatic bow, final curtain call, but anything some of the emotional dialogue scenes in this movie people. It would get emotional. For the most part, the film was fun because all these people are fun and all these actors are fun," he continues. "Everybody loves being in the shared sandbox, but there’s emotion when people have been playing these characters for this long and are this
closely. They are as emotionally connected to the characters, if not more so, than the audience."

As for what it was like to say goodbye to Tom Hiddleston's Loki, a character who has played a key role in the MCU since 2011's THOR, Feige added: "So you have to imagine it’s emotional as they go through scenes that either represent some sort of a curtain dropping, or just scenes that allow them to reflect on how far they’ve come, so there are a lot of days like that, that were emotional. And for Tom in particular, yeah, there was some. Some days were more emotional than others."

Do you guys think we'll see the God of Mischief or Heimdall return somewhere down the line?

The way Loki was squirming when Thanos was choking him was magnificent. Very in character. Always trying to wiggle his way out of a situation. Phenomenal actor.

i mean... we've seen set photos of Loki in avengers 4 with the mouth-guard-thing on right? so even though i feel he is dead going forward, we will still likely see him show up in Avengers 4, especially if they re-visit the first avengers film invasion of new york when Loki was front and centre

so we will get a last little hurrah from him i think

Was expecting for Loki to just more nothing more than a "notable casualty" to raise the stakes for the movie
But when he referred to himself as "Odinson" it caught me right in the feels <3

@LittleSween - Yeah, it was a subtle touch, but spoke to his whole arc. Perfect end to the character's story and exactly what I was hoping for. A final trick, and attempted betrayal, but this time it's a noble one.

I actually don’t think any of the character will die permanently except maybe Heimdall as his power to teleport was transferred to Thor’s new hammer making him kinda useless.

I don’t think they can permanently kill off Loki as they might as well kill off Thor due to the fact he doesn’t have much of a supporting cast anymore for movies, with Heimdall, the warriors 3 and Sif being M.I.A.

With Vision I was of the understanding the shuri has finished what she was doing just before she was attacked and therefore vision will be rebuilt back to normal without the mind stone.

There is no way they are not going to bring back Gamora, she is still to important to the guardians of the galaxy and none of the character had proper time to morn before they all vanished.

With all the characters that vanished I thought it was silly the characters they choose to make vanish because you know that they are characters that are definitely coming back. If it was just in my opinion the average character (the ones I think are average ie Black Widow, Hawkeye, Falcon, Mantis and a few Black Panther supporting characters) you may have believed that they weren’t returning. But there is no way Spider-Man, Black Panther, doctor strange or the guardians aren’t coming back. In saying that I do like how it will just be the original/most famous avengers alive for the next movie.

@Ajax36 - "with Heimdall, the warriors 3 and Sif being M.I.A."

You mean K.I.A only sif is M.I.A

@EbonyMaw - wording not correct but thought everyone would understand what I was trying to say. Should of wrote “with Heimdall and the warriors 3 dead and Sif M.I.A”

@Ajax36 - I see.

@Ajax36 - I don’t think it mattered who they killed off in the snap. People just aren’t going to believe that Marvel killed off half the people in the universe and are just going to keep it that way. It would always seem inevitable that any one of them could and would return.

@Ajax36 - I totally agree with you regarding Vision and Gamora. I clearly saw Shuri finishing the job and doing a quick save in the movie before she started fighting Corvus Glaive. As for Gamora, yeah, she's in the Soul realm. Not too sure about Loki though. I think Heimdall and him are done for. As for the others, the question is not if they'll come back but HOW ? I have no idea and I can't wait for Avengers 4. It's gonna be a very long year.

@Ajax36 - Maybe we get Thor and Guardians team up or maybe Thor send Korg, Miek and Valkyrie to find Sif.

I saw Heimdall's death coming (as well executed as it was), but Loki's death was really shocking THAT early into the film. His death felt like an eternity and was part satisfying, part horrifying. Tom and Chris really delivered those final moments.

Loki is fiiiiiiine.

That was another illusion.

Or he’ll be reincarnated. Him and ultron can NEVER be totally defeated.
regularmovieguy
regularmovieguy - 5/2/2018, 5:16 AM
@BloodyBed

I don’t wanna see anyone who was killed pre-snap. Vision, Loki, Gamora....

If they don’t remain dead then it’ll bother me. We know Spider-Man, Strange, BP, and crew are coming back. Anyone who was killed pre-snap should remain dead imo or it will significantly lower the value of this movie.

@regularmovieguy - Vision will return. Ultron is secretly hiding in his programming.

Thanos wiped out 75% of the Asgardians in this movie.
