Chris Evans & Chris Hemsworth Hoping For Cameos In Each Others' MARVEL Sequels

While chatting to MTV, the two Chris's express interest in cameo appearances in their sequels to Captain America and Thor. But Kevin Feige has made it very clear that this type of thing is unlikely, so is it just wishful thinking?..

Kevin Feige may have sounded dubious about any other members of The Avengers appearing in the various solo outings for the characters that are coming our way, but that doesn't mean the actors aren't interested. MTV caught up with Chris Evans (Captain America) and Chris Hemswoth (Thor), and asked them about the sequels they have in the pipeline..

If you can't watch the vid, both actors say they have no idea what to expect from the movies as neither one has read the script yet. However, Hemswoth does say the following about Thor 2..

"Certainly the first one left with Thor needing to get back to earth and see Jane but there will be bigger problems as usual. But my big concern is how is Thor going to come to earth and not call upon the rest of his buddies now? That will be the trick to conveniently kind of skewer them off to different sides of the globe."

This led to the question of cameos. Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner) already expressed excitement at the possibility of appearing alongside Robert Downey Jr in Iron Man 3, and now these two are following suit..

"I'd love to, I think that would be a great thing," Evans said.

"We should do that!" Hemsworth agreed.

"I want to," Evans said definitively.

Maybe Feige will have to rethink his stance on all of this! What do you guys think, would you be up for seeing these type of cameos? Or should the solo movies focus only on the title characters in question?

Yeah, I was kinda hoping to see Spidey or some other cameo when I saw the Avengers but alas...nothing. Oh well, I think it'd be cool if they made it happen. :)

It'll never happen without some sort of contract renegotiation. A cameo would count against the "appear in X number of movies" clause. Like RDJ's cameo in the Incredible Hulk.

If Hulk can't have his own solo movie he should be in Iron Man 3, OR just give him his own solo movie

A Blade cameo. :)

they want to appear in other movies so they can be released from their contracts more quickly (or get more money)? each cameo counts as a film. if they are locked in for 6 films and have already appeared in 2 (solo and avengers) then a cameo would count as a third film. unless they change the deal, don't let marvel waste them in cameos instead of full films...

the only ones who is free to cameo wherever he wants is fury and banner

they should have made 3 solo movies each and then an avengers movies. having solo movies after the avengers vs aliens will make each of the solo movies seem decidedly tame

I think it would be fascinating to see how they could fit in some cameos into each of the indvidual movies.

Banner in IM3 is a bit of a no-brainer to me.. develop the relationship further between Bruce and Tony with Bruce helping Tony advance his Iron Man tech.

the deal is not concrete. its just a back up plan by Marvel. Obviously it cant be ended by anyone but Marvel. 6 films means 3 of their own and 3 avengers.

They should definitely do this. Especially with Thor and Cap and Tony and Banner. Have Banner work for Stark now, and have Thor visit Cap when he returns to Earth to see how he's doing with fitting in as he knows how it is.

Nope, just the standard Stan Lee one. I wouldn't say the end credits scene counts as a cameo though.

At this point it isn't difficult to avoid the problem of them not being in one another's movies. It is only the scope of the movie that requires explanations for no other characters. In other words, if IM is facing a potential world threatening villain they have to explain why he doesn't call up S.H.I.E.L.D. However, no one is going to ask Banner to Hulk out unless they are desperate. Thor is powerful enough and prideful enough to think he can handle anything and if his Asgardian friends are with him it is even more unlikely he would call for help. It sounds like Cap will be working with S.H.I.E.L.D. so it wouldn't be his call and they have lots of agents which means they wouldn't necessarily have Widow or Hawkeye involved. Really, it is Iron Man who most causes this trouble.

Marvel needs to make a standard contract that will be you will sign for 10 main movies and 10 small cameos all on one contract .

I would like an at the end fight cameo like War Machine in I'M 2 but maybe make it Thor for the final battle. They don't need to do that an it would be better probably if they didn't but it would be cool.
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 4/17/2012, 6:53 AM
@thunderforce couldn't they just draw up a cameo contract in addition to the film one if the actors are that willing?
Sparrowsabre7
Sparrowsabre7 - 4/17/2012, 6:54 AM
I don't see why the other avengers is an issue, I mean with IM1 and 2, very little of the film could not have been handled by Iron Man and in the final battles (Iron Monger, Whiplash) other characters wouldn't have been able to get there before the fight was over, I mean heck in IM1 and 2 the police/army didn't even show up till everything was over. Plus they all have their own stuff to do, the point of the Avengers is they come together for threats too big for ONE of them.

More cameos please, Marvel Feige. Start with this Cap/Thor one .
Sparrowsabre7

War Machine, Hawkeye, Widow and Cap are all under army or SHIELD jurusdiction. They all serve as soldiers so they could be off on different assignments whenever. Tony can do what he wants, so he'd probably only show if he thought it was serious enough that another character couldn't handle it, Thor is often in Asgard so he's probably not going to be around all the time. I thinkthey can easily make it plausible.

You don't HAVE to have a good reason for one of them to pop up. It could very easily just be an "in passing" thing. Evans doesn't have to be in costume, he could just be Steve Rogers, who has already been said will be working for SHIELD anyway. So if Coulson, a Shield agent, can pop up in every single movie, then why cant Rogers, also a Shield agent, do the same? It could easily be a "We got a reading of some abnormal weather conditions. I figured it would be you." type of thing. OR, just a thought, what if it was the same scene in both movies, and their individual plots just happen to intersect for a brief moment? Eh? Jussayin. Not tough, and IF Banner happens to pop up in IM3, but neither of these guys get a cameo at all in anything, I'll be kind of peaved.

@Ripynt, that would be the coolest way to do it. They would have to figure out which director would do it, but it could be very cool if done right. My only problem is that it seems silly to have all these major events happening in such close proximity to each other.

Banner should definitely be in IM3. I feel like they're trying to keep the character around until The Avengers 2 where he'll break off and then we'll finally get TIH2.

It would be awesome if they could do that but most likely they will be all alone in their sequels.

I dream of a scene in Thor 2 where he needs to travel to another realm and calls upon one of the Avengers to accompany him. Hawkeye. Cap. Picture an entire action sequence or finale on Hávamál with two or three Avenger cameos. Something big leading up to Avengers 2, though I personally hope for solo story and character driven adventures for Tony, Steve and the Odinson.

I hope the movies and comics start to draw from this as well as the stories told in the MCU.
"In Norse mythology, largely recorded in Iceland from traditional material stemming from Scandinavia, numerous tales and information about Thor are provided. In these sources, Thor bears at least fourteen names, is the husband of the golden-haired goddess Sif, is the lover of the jötunn Járnsaxa, and is generally described as fierce-eyed, red-haired and red-bearded.[1] With Sif, Thor fathered the goddess (and possible valkyrie) Þrúðr; with Járnsaxa, he fathered Magni; with a mother whose name is not recorded, he fathered Móði, and he is the stepfather of the god Ullr. The same sources list Thor as the son of the god Odin and the personified earth, Fjörgyn, and by way of Odin, Thor has numerous brothers. Thor has two servants, Þjálfi and Röskva, rides in a cart or chariot pulled by two goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr (that he eats and resurrects), and is ascribed three dwellings (Bilskirnir, Þrúðheimr, and Þrúðvangr). Thor wields the mountain-crushing hammer, Mjöllnir, wears the belt Megingjörð and the iron gloves Járngreipr, and owns the staff Gríðarvölr. Thor's exploits, including his relentless slaughter of his foes and fierce battles with the monstrous serpent Jörmungandr—and their foretold mutual deaths during the events of Ragnarök—are recorded throughout sources for Norse mythology."

They could have cap doing some stealth mission to get information for Stark or something. Not being actually shown in the movie but you know he's helping.

I remember Chris Evans once saying that if he did cameos in other films in the MCU, he would count that against his options-- meaning they have him for 6 movies and he would count his 30 second cameo as one of the movies. This is in contrast to RDJ who did his TIH cameo as a favor to his friends at Marvel. I thought Evans OWNED as Cap, but I've always been disappointed he wasn't more of a team player in this regard.
