Robert Downey Jr. Starts His Research For The Avengers!

Robert Downey Jr. who's set to reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man alongside Chris Evans (Captain America) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) in the upcoming 2012 epic, The Avengers, was spotted this week in a Hollywood comic book store buying several Iron Man and Avengers comics. It's fair to assume that this is to do his homework on the team before filming starts on the movie, which is rumoured to be as early as next January. Below are some of the main photos taken but to see the rest head over to Just Jared by following the link at the bottom of the article!

The Avengers are set to assemble in a cinema near you on May 4, 2012!

it's good to see he cares enough to portray the character like the comic and to get a better understanding of the stories.

i agree. going in-depth to the characters we love most. all actors portraying comic book characters should take a cue from RDJ!!

Well he still has like a year or so before they start filming, so he'll have plenty of time to get familiar with the team dynamics, or at least I hope so :)

That looks a lot nicer than my local shop. They have cheap particle board shelves with no paint. I agree that you can still be a fan and be dapper at the same time.

I just think that it's awesome he cares enough to go out and buy a pile of comic books like this - many actors would just read the script and not even bother! I wish there had been some more pictures of the specific comics he was buying but the two I've posted above were the only clear ones...looks like he's looking at a good variation of stuff regardless! RDJ FTW! :D

I want to see Hulk again for sure, but they shouldn't rush the CGI this time! There were some great CGI where he looked totally real, but other scenes weren't as polished.

I give Downey all the credit in the world for this. He's already got 2 films under his belt, he could easily say "After doing two of these I know what I'm doing," but he's still researching. That's awesome :)

Hopefully this time around though, we'll see a little more of the comicbook Tony Stark - and a little less of RDjr when he takes off the suit, if that makes sense.

Wow... Look at RDJ.

That dude is class. I don't think I've EVER seen any actor be that into a superhero like that. He even payed for the comics!!! I like him more and more.

Think about it. Have we seen Bale walk out of a store with Batman comics? Or Toby walk out of a store with lots of spidey comics?

Man RDJ is just class. All the why up to how he dresses.

You've Been UNMASKED!

Because, I've been on two articles in the past five minutes...and neither of them have shown up. I mean, the comments have (obviously), but the actual area where the information would be is just blank.
