The cast of
Justice League is expected to be in Hall H for a panel and to debut a trailer tomorrow, however, Joss Whedon, who stepped in and took over directing duties from Zack Snyder after a family tragedy, is not expected to be there.
Justice League isn't the only thing Whedon has cooking for Warner Brothers, as he has been hired by the studio to develop a
Batgirl film as well. There isn't really much known about the project aside from Whedon being hired write and direct, but it's now been revealed that he'll be stepping into the film pretty soon after he completes
Justice League.
Speaking to
IGN, DCEU Producer Geoff Johns indicated that Whedon would begin working on the film next year.
“But for Batman what I will say is that Batman is more than just Batman and, you know, it’s been way too long since we’ve seen, you know, an expansion of that universe, and Batgirl – we are doing Batgirl with Joss Whedon, it’s going to be super exciting. He’s going to start that next year, and that’s just the start,” he explained.
While he will be starting on the film next year, we don't know exactly in what capacity. He could just be beginning the writing process, or he might be planning production.
As of right now,
Batgirl doesn't have a release date.
