BATMAN VS TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Review: "Fun Doesn't Even Begin To Describe It"

Batman and the Ninja Turtles respectively have their strong fan bases. However, with this new animated film, those fan bases can come together as one for this heck of a ride. Here's my review on it...

DC Animation is known for making some real good films. That being said, it's this new one that is easily one of my favorites. And this time, they have collaborated with Nickelodeon of all studios.

The Caped Crusader who we all know and love teams up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. TMNT for short. This wild idea started out as a comic storyline back in December of 2015. Now, it has transcended into a movie; and boy, is it something else.

Plot wise, it's pretty simple. The Ninja Turtles take a trip to Gotham City (which is basically down the block from their New York City sewers). They plan on taking down The Shredder, but Batman gets in their way. Since it is his city, he is leery of the TMNT at first. However, as time goes on, they both realize they'll need each other in order to take down the dynamic duo of Ra's al Ghul and The Shredder. Add Batgirl and Damian Wayne in the mix, and you have yourself a party.

Simply put, fun doesn't even begin to describe it. Having a veteran like Batman join forces with young, green ninjas with shells is a great concept, and an even better execution. The film is filled to the brim with laughs, action, and pizza.

However, don't expect this to be your 80's Ninja Turtles. This movie definitely has its gritty and dark moments, which is why it's PG-13.

In terms of action, it was very impressive. The fight scenes were well animated and displayed, and it was a thrill ride. Honestly, there was almost too much action. There was actually a time or two where I wanted the movie to slow down. All of the characters were great. Batman was wonderfully voiced by Troy Baker (who also voiced The Joker in this), and all of the Turtles were accurately portrayed. Batgirl was also a good surplus to the film, and even seeing Damian Wayne's Robin was a nice surprise.

The whole movie felt like a video game, and I mean that in the best way possible. Just generally a good time. Batman vs TMNT is actually one of the longest, if not, the longest DC animated film ever made, running at an hour and 24 minutes. Hopefully there's a sequel down the line, because there's a lot of potential here.

So if you decide to watch it... Kick back, have a slice, and enjoy some of the best crime fighting heroes team up like never before.

Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles releases to DVD, June 4th. It's already out on Digital, so go check it out. If you've seen it, leave your thoughts down below.
