Warner Bros. Pictures plans sequels for Batman Begins and Superman Returns with Chris Nolan and Bryan Singer in line to direct their respective pictures, Variety says.

The studio hired Nolan's brother Jonathan to write the screenplay for the Batman sequel and hs options on both Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman) and Brandon Routh (Clark Kent/Superman).

The sequels could make their debut in 2008 and 2009, respectively, the trade says.

Singer may helmed Superman 2 right after finishing his remake of Logan's Run, tentatively scheduled to begin shooting this fall in Vancouver.
