WARNING: The following articles contains spoilers from Batman and Robin #15.

Here is the full report that was released earlier today via The Associated Press:

Batman's alter ego, Bruce Wayne, is going public about his role behind the Dark Knight.

After a lifetime spent wearing the cowl - and a scowl that's made him the scourge of Gotham's madmen - the fictional billionaire is taking full responsibility for keeping the caped crusader financed to fight crime.

The admission is unveiled Wednesday in the final pages of "Batman and Robin" No. 16 that marks the last issue in a run by Scottish writer Grant Morrison.

The acknowledgment in the final pages comes as Wayne holds a news conference where he asks those gathered: "Some of you may have wondered ... how does a man like Batman afford to constantly update his crime-fighting technology? Where does his money come from?"

"Well, the answer is me."

The confession, Morrison said, is part of a detailed effort that puts into motion a plan for Batman Incorporated, a global network of Batmen from China to Argentina to fight crime worldwide.

Morrison told The Associated Press that the decision was made to protect Wayne's secret identity by deflecting attention away from speculation it was he who wore the cape.

"We've sidetracked the media that he has actually been financing Batman all these years," Morrison explained of the long arc he's written that has seen the Dark Knight plunge through time and space and have his mantle taken up by former Robin Dick Grayson. "He is the man behind the Batman, but he is not Batman."

In doing so, Wayne is free to take his crime fighting international by building what Morrison calls a "global, international army of Batmen. Batman in China, Batman in Japan, Batman in Russia. Expanding the Batman brand to areas where he really hasn't been before."

"Batman in China, Batman in Japan, Batman in Russia. Expanding the Batman brand to areas where he really hasn't been before."

in other words: we're going to sell a hell of a lot of toys.

...
"Batman Inc.,Batman Incorporated” — a global network of Batmen that will fight crime around the world."
What the hell? I don't care if Morrison writes Batman well. These arcs have changed a lot, and going to an International Bat-League at this point? Revealing his identity? Now that's drastic.

This has been an amzaing arc and I am glad it is not over.

@Creature

He did not reveal his identity it is still a secret.

DC will retcon everything Morrison's done to Batman within five years and pretend it never happened. The word "crisis" will be involved. I'd bet money on it.

Batman fans should beg Joe Quesada for Mephisto's phone number.

As long as the series sells well and they have this material will not be retconed anytime soon the end of this arc is 2012 and that is how long it will go before anything now changes.

It is a natural move Batman recruits Robins and Batgirls he is always determined to eradicate crime so him making an army of heroes is something he would do because he is that much of a strategist.

Question? Why is it that almost every dc character needs to become a "global network", for instance instance lantern corp. One is enough. Batmen in japan, china, russia, and so on. This just sounds dumb

I hate Morrison. I hated his run on X-Men and now this. All he is is a shock writer. Might be fine for an Elseworlds story or a What If but when he [frick]s up my mainstream shit is when I have a problem. Not saying the guy can't write, just that he takes it to places I would rather he didn't.

Oh, my bad. He's claiming that he funds Dick (and Batmen) is all. Still, this sounds silly. Batman should stay in Gotham, unless travelling. Him or Dick should simply continue fighting crime in Gotham. This arcs' likely gonna have a hard time juggling 4 Batmen plus supporting casts, which are pretty necessary for a Batman story.

Serious. He hasnt even solved the crime issue in his own city little own the Worlds! lol But if anyone can its Bruce!!!

I hate crossovers. DC needs to be happy with their characters and their current states. Not much needs to be changed in ration.
@Angelus:
Indeed. This arc could work out but DC always has Elseworlds for spare shit tickets.

Angelus - 11/3/2010, 3:52 PM
Bruce Wayne aint Tony Stark. If this is how Tony Stark is then its terrible for the legendary character of Batman. Perhaps this the beginning of a reboot. Maybe they will also return Hal Jordan!

HawHaw: They need to keep Mephisto on speed dial. Business is good for everyone's favorite devil who's not... THE devil.

Odinsbeard: I think you may be onto the real motivation behind this storyline- selling another line of toys!

This is the stupidest idea I've seen in a long time. And THAT is saying something, considering the lameness that passes for comic books these days. A global network of Batmen? STUPID. Will we have Batman Night Schools kind of like Krusty's Klown Kolleges? You too can be a Batman in three short months! No experience necessary! Earn while you learn! Bring the kids along- we're franchising Robins and Batgirls also! Ask about our family plan! Just sign this meaningless liability waiver and you're on your way to being the first Batman in your neighborhood!

In the current industry events and crossovers sell more then stories that don't have them so quite arcs won't do as much. As for this current arc it was called Batman, Inc. it's been known for a few months and it still surprises me when people hear it for the first time in this 24 hour internet news environment.

Interesting story arc but I'm with the majority of fans - an army of batmen kinda defeats the purpose of batman and keeping him Gotham and all of his long history over the years.
JaySchluffy
JaySchluffy - 11/3/2010, 3:58 PM
Jesus he's not outed himself, he hasnt said he's batman. He helps fund batman and works with him. But he did not say "I am batman" ala tony stark.

Need we forget how Peter Parker explains all the spider-man pictures? Being his unofficial publicist?

It's comics, come 3-4 years it will be back to normal. Hell 2 years ago bruce wayne was DEAD/IN CAVE

He was dead but this will pass for fans who love this arc it is two more years for fans who do not like it is two more years till it ends nothing is permanent.

Bruce Wayne is just jealous that Hal Jordan has a Green Lantern Corps behind him so he had to get his own. Spoiled brat.

Not a fan of this idea at all. And yes, it is indeed happening in the DC Universe and not in an alternate reality! In general, I really dislike Grant Morrison's work on Batman...he's delivered some amazing moments over the past few years (Dick and Damien as Batman and Robin especially) but for the most part his work has ranged from baffling to frustrating to truly awful. (the Red Hood arc he did for example) While this is an interesting idea, it's not the Batman I want to see. The only good thing about this is the fact that Dick will still be Batman as well as Bruce. Hell, I sort of wish they'd left him dead. :P
