Reports/rumors that Warner Bros. was developing a sequel to 2019's smash-hit Joker have been doing the rounds for over a year now, and director Todd Phillips has finally made it official!
The filmmaker took to Instagram to share a first look at the script cover, written by himself and Scott Silver, which is currently titled "Folie à Deux." Loosely translated as "madness for two," this condition is defined as an identical or similar mental disorder affecting two or more individuals, usually the members of a close family.
Phillips also posted a photo of star Joaquin Phoenix reading the script, which would obviously suggest that the Academy Award-winner is on board to reprise the role of Arthur Fleck.
We still have no idea what to expect from a sequel to the very much standalone film, but that Folie à Deux title should definitely prompt plenty of discussion. There's already speculation that Harley Quinn might be involved, but we can't see it - at least, not any traditional take on the character.
Hopefully, Phillips will share a few more details soon, because the trades don't seen to know anything else about the project. For now, be sure to let us know how - or if - you think Fleck's tragic tale should continue in the comments section.
