GODZILLA VS. KONG Star Eiza González Reflects On Losing Catwoman Role To Zoe Kravitz In THE BATMAN

Several actresses were in the running to play Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Batman, with the role ultimately going to Zoe Kravitz. She did a fantastic job as the character, and while the movie seemed to end her story, the door was left open to the anti-hero returning in the recently delayed sequel.

Among those vying for the role was Godzilla vs. Kong and 3 Body Problem star Eiza González.

ComicBook.com asked the actress whether she's keen to join a Marvel or DC project and it seems she's moved on after starring in the critically panned Bloodshot (which was also a box office flop).

"I don't see it happening. I mean, it's like my opportunity has been there and it's not happened for me. So I think it's just not in the cards for Eiza Gonzalez, which is okay. I'm okay with it," she told the site. "Actually, I think that when I was younger, it really excited me and obviously [at] this point, it's been so many years."

"I was so excited when I camera tested for The Batman. And that whole process was shocking and I couldn't believe it because I was especially such a huge fan of Catwoman. And in that moment, I was like, you know, distraught that I didn't get it."

"But then I watched it and I was like, 'Wow.' I just loved it. I loved her. I loved the role. I loved Zoe in it," González continued. "I just was so obsessed with what Matt [Reeves] had created and now it's just nice to see people for the right role getting cast in the right role and I like to watch it as an audience member."

"I'm not as passionate [about being] in those worlds anymore...I would love to if the opportunity happened. But, you know, I'm just a geek in the sense that I like to watch it. I don't have a personal...I didn't get it so I don't watch, you know? I don't care about that anymore at all."

It is a shame a major superhero role didn't happen for González as she was clearly looking to put herself on the map by joining the Marvel or DC Universes. Instead, she was lumbered with Bloodshot, a movie that can't have done her career many favours.

Fortunately, she's bounced back with upcoming projects such as the aforementioned 3 Body Problem and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. In terms of superhero roles, the actress remains a fan-favourite pick for the DCU's Wonder Woman.

Do you think González would have made a good Catwoman?
