There was a time when Ben Affleck was set to direct and star in The Batman, and the movie would have pit his Bruce Wayne against Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke. In Zack Snyder's Justice League, Lex Luthor told Slade Wilson who is really beneath the cape and cowl, setting the stage for the assassin to return to Gotham City and take aim at its Dark Knight.
It's previously been revealed that Deathstroke was going to destroy Batman's world, and that mission would have included a badass new suit for the villain.
Some have already pointed out that the one we saw in Justice League was close to perfect, but it's commonplace for changes to be made from movie to movie. Affleck no doubt wanted to put his own spin on the character, though there's nothing to say this design would have been used!
Unfortunately, Affleck's take on The Batman will never see the light of day and he's expected to say farewell to the character in next year's The Flash. On the plus side, Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson's take on the iconic DC Comics hero was so good, it more than makes up for it.
Take a look at the new Deathstroke design below:
Christensen has also shared some early designs for the Batsuit Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader was set to don in the movie, some of which were highlighted on the site a few days ago. The suit is a definite improvement over what the hero wore in Justice League, and a nice mixture between that "classic" look and tactical gear he'd need in his fight against Slade Wilson.
