Christopher Nolan Says No To A JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie

He may be producing a Superman movie for Warner Bros. but the studio's top director says he has no future plans to be involved with a Justice League movie or the Batman reboot.

If you're hoping that director Christopher Nolan will have an active hand in any of Warner Bros. plans for a Justice League movie then I have sad tidings to report. The director stated in an interview over the weekend that he has no plans to be involved in a Justice League project.

No, none at all," Nolan said. "We're finished with all we're doing with Batman. This is the end of our take on this character.

Batman will outlive us all, and our interpretation was ours. Obviously, we consider it definitive and kind of finished. The great thing about Batman is he lives on for future generations to reinterpret, and obviously, Warners will have to decide in the future what they're going to do with him. We've had our say on the character. ...

I've got no plans to do anything more, and certainly, no involvement with any 'Justice League' project."

He also said he does not intend to have any involvement with any future solo Batman films from distributor Warner Bros., who are reportedly already developing ideas for a reboot of Gotham's Dark Knight.

Click here for my take on how to get a Justice League movie off the ground.

The Dark Knight Rises" reunites Nolan with Christian Bale as billionaire Bruce Wayne and his Batman alter-ego; Michael Caine as stalwart butler Alfred; Morgan Freeman as Wayne Enterprises mastermind Lucius Fox; and Gary Oldman as upright Police Commissioner Jim Gordon. Joining the cast are Anne Hathaway as daring thief Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman, and three of Nolan's "Inception" co-stars: Tom Hardy as brutish villain Bane; Marion Cotillard as Wayne's new business ally, Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as gutsy cop John Blake.

The story begins eight years after the action of "The Dark Knight," with Batman vanished from the scene and vilified as an enemy of Gotham City, whose tough anti-crime laws have cleaned up the streets. A limping, emotionally shattered recluse, Bale's Wayne is forced back into action as Bane lays deadly siege to the city.

Yay! I am first!!! Good call by Nolan. Warner should concentrate on bringing the individual characters films out first! How about the flash after mos?

we need to find a young unknown director who will be the next Christopher Nolan, I dont want someone already established, they went with Nolan when he was unknown slightly, so they need to do it again.

Nolan makes a good film sure, but is this not the same guy that did not want meta-humans and magic in the Dark Knight films in the first place?

We will need another Batman for JL, and I know a lot of you will cry foul, but I see as just like comic books, and having different Artists and Writers. Will not really be a reboot but just one more Batman...

thank god... now they can find a director that actually likes working with comic book characters and doesnt think the characters and his fans are beneath him. let nolan and his cult of asskissers move on to another genre.

i would love to see someone try doing a batman beyond movie in the future of the current batman series' universe

@catwoman1 - agreed, it would be great to see a relative unknown try his or her hand at this so we'd have something as surprising as batman begins (in the good way of course)

One thing I like about Nolan, he's not pushed around by studios, probably why his Dark Knight movies are awesome.

David Fincher for the Batman Reboot! Justice League?...maybe Louis Lettier?

Not surprised. Besides, who's gonna want a Batman reboot after the perfect trilogy? Grif, I'm sure.

It's not like they're rebooting Lord of the Rings anytime soon, and that was a perfect trilogy. Hell, Return of the King is one of the greatest movies ever created, based on one of the greatest books ever created.

It's so obvious that he was never ever keen on the idea of a Justice League film because of the conflict with his vision of the Batman. I am also sure that he is against any future plans to do a JL project since that version of Batman might complicate the sale of his version of Batman (or for that matter, Superman) on video. What a jerk. I still think it is a better move to feature such lower tier heroes as the Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, and Martian Manhunter in a film like Justice League (with support from Batman and Superman) and spin of those characters that appear to be popular among movie goers. That would be a lot less expensive that investing $150-$200 million each on (3 or 4) solo films in hopes that none of them flop. Just keep in mind that they did that with Green Lantern and it didn't meet their expectations.

$5.00 says that he kills off Batman in "Rises" because of this. Just curious.

Well, well, well... It sounds like Nolan and "I want Nolan to produce Batman 4 and JL" Robinov had a little falling out. I wonder if Nolan is going to stick with WB after TDKR?

Don't fricking reboot Batman! You know that empty, unexcited feeling you got when you watched the amazing spider-man knowing this was made solely due to the fact that it's the studios only sure money maker? Remember not being able to not compare it to the last recent trilogy? That sucked and if they do that to batman I might flip. We can't wait a tiny bit out of respect to the greatest superhero flics ever made??
Kalel219
Kalel219 - 7/9/2012, 5:06 AM
I kinda feel sorry for Nolan. I know it's stupid to think WB wouldn't reboot Batman but couldn't they at least wait til his last movie was out? Just seems rude, it's like "Thanks for all the money, now [frick] off so we can make more"
DetBullock

Good, a Nolan-style JL would be plain ludicrous and by the way: starting with individual films would be better.
FilmsFan
FilmsFan - 7/9/2012, 5:14 AM
OK!
I agree with him & accept that he's not doing JL, but I'm really really sad!!

He's most surely the Only guy WB has who can make a great cinematic spectacle & tells a Story as well!
He would've been perfect!!
No sure WHO can make a JL film now; give the status of these characters!

& those motherfvckers saying he doesn't care about Comic Book characters!
Well nothing is gona change ur stupid ass mind!
Every director has his own take on hundreds of ComicBook versions of SAME Character, but why would u understand; ur a mindless asshole, who can only hate!
U DON'T COUNT!!

But I'm happy as well, cuz I really want him to move on & do his OWN ORIGINAL projects!
Like MEMENTO, INCEPTION or BOND film!

Just stay big Nolan, don't go on indie route!
Tons of other great directors are making indie film, we need greats who make Big blockbusters as well, other than Micheal Bay.

Good Luck for future!
No Doubt you'll do GREAT!
