My Two Cents On Batman 3

My Two Cents On Batman 3

While Wishing There Was Room In Nolan's World For More Characters, I Think Batman Will Be A Treat None The Less.

I've read many articles by fellow CBMer's regarding what they'd like to see in the upcoming Batman sequel. Some of you have brought up very interesting possibilities. I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

1. The Tumbler is fine. No need to have a vehicle that looks more like the old batmobiles. I feel that would take away from the essence of the first two movies and the more realistic world that Nolan is trying to convey.

2. NO BATWING. At least, not a traditional Batwing. Gotham is too small of an area to do an aerial fight scene. My thought is that in place of a full size aircraft, Batman has one or two Wayne Enterprises commissioned destroyer drones that can be controlled remotely by Batman or one of his allies.

3. Arkham Asylum. This must be in the movie...early. My thought was that the movie opens with Batman capturing Scarecrow and leaving him for the police. They transport him to the new Arkham Asylum on the outskirts of Gotham, where as he is walked down the corridor by the police and Dr. Harleen Quinnzel, you see into some of the cells. The cells could have the giant glass windows, much like Silence of the Lambs. In these cells, you see other Batman criminals. No costumes, but definitely recognizable.

4. I like the idea of Riddler as the main antagonist, but as a mental opponent only. Someone who's more behind the scenes. Following the same route as with the Joker, make him a normal guy, but with an obsession for crossword puzzles and brain teasers. He can be one of those people who mess around with numbers and win the lottery. I would like to see him employ Victor Zsasz, sending him on a killing spree and using his knowledge of forensic science to cover up all but the most vague of clues. Using his intellect to keep Batman turning in circles, trying to catch the killer while trying to avoid the police. Regardless of who the villain is, we need a real fight this time. Not some close quarter fight on a subway train or roof top scuffle with someone who shouldn't stand a chance.

5. Everyone keeps screaming for NO ROBIN!!! I agree. No Robin. But I would like to see Tim Drake. Not an acrobat or master of several martial arts. Just a teenager who fancies himself a detective and thinks he can crack the Batman case. Doesn't have to be a main character, maybe just a sub-plot. A lot of people keep saying this could be the last movie of the series. If Christian Bale decides not to return for another movie, maybe it can be said that he passed the torch to Tim Drake, this way we can avoid rebooting the franchise again.

6. Finally, I don't agree that Batman needs a love interest in this movie. One would think that he would still be so heart broken over Rachel Dawes that he pours himself completely into his work, as well as developing a more aggressive attitude. Maybe show him at a point beating a perp, while seeing a flashback of the Joker, and nearly killing him.

Well, those are my thoughts on the Bat sequel. I look forward to hearing your comments.

1. The tumbler was destroyed in the last one, so i wouldn't mind a new batmobile. although i really like the tumbler, so i wouldn't mind if it came back too.

2. I agree, no Batwing. It kinda camps things up a little too much. Whats next, the Batboat and Batcopter? no thanks.

3. He caught Scarecrow in the last one. but i like that idea, just with a different character that Batman is capturing.

4. Im 200% against the Riddler being in it. but if he MUST be there, then i agree, he should be behind the scenes, while other characters are physical threats. I want Black Mask as the main villain though. People don't understand that he's one of the most brutal villains in all of comics.

5. No Robin. And Tim Drake wouldn't be necessary if they aren't trying to turn him into Robin. They could make ANY character fill the part you mention.

6. No love interest. I agree 100%! I don't know why every CBM has to have some kind of love interest.

Great article though! better than most of the Batman 3 articles that just post the same things.

Like it, but 2 problems for me: 1) Zasz, no zasz please let someone new take the spotlight. 2) I like your idea for Robin but I don't think Nolan would ever want Robin in his films. Great Article.

Completely agree on all points except the the Batwing one and the Robin one. The Batwing Im not against, I can go either way on that. As for Robin, I really think that Nolan can pull off a realistic Robin in his world. Of course not a ten year-old bouncing araound in bright colors. I imagine more of a 16 year-old in a Red Robin like suit. Now, this could lead to to many characters, but Id want a Return of the King -length film (200 mins).

@MikeSanderson09 - I wrote this for the same reason most people write articles, to express my opinion. Everyone has their own thoughts on what they'd like to see done with their favorite characters and CBM gives us the forum to express those thoughts. Besides my first two articles made front page. Been there, done that.

To all other posters, thanks for the comments.

NO BAT WING ARE YOU SERIOUS the batwing has to be in the 3rd movie in each movie he introduced a new vehicle the batmobile the bat pod and now nolan HAS to introduce the batwing im thinking on the lines of it being a stealth fighter its kinda shaped as a bat its dark and its small and modern like the other vehicles but it would be hell just to get it out of retirement and get it out there but nolan can do it and he has to think of the DC cinematic universe
like what marvel is doing.

@mikesanderson - Matter of opinion. Besides, our articles are really nothing alike. Your entire article is about the next villain, while mine touched on several subjects. Just because they were written ABOUT the same movie does not mean I attempted to one up your article. No offense to the editors, but I think we all know there have been many occasions where decent articles have been left on the back burner while inferior articles with pretty pictures make front page.

@mikesanderson - I liked your article, it was one of the many that I read that made me want to throw in my thoughts on the film. I was making a general statement about the editors sometimes choosing articles that are slightly more flashy for the front page. And...yes I was bustin' your balls a little. All in good fun.

Batman 3 storyline. Check it out.
Okay, I'm going to go all out...

The movie is going to, obviously, be the Nolan batman movie style - more realistic, but after Heath Ledger's portrayal of Joker, I know nobody will live up to that. I trust Nolan to have great actors but I think the movie still needs to find a way to go out with a bang. I'm thinking there needs to be multiple villains, making the most out of the DC COMICS, now terrorizing the city. The movie will have to be quite long but with so much going on I doubt people will have a problem with that. I think the movie should have a few big name villains in the movie. That will excite people. The thing is the characters will have to share the same level of importance in the film (just identified as villains) like the cartoon, but the known ones that they have created big names for themselves over the years shouldn't be shown in the movie. Catwoman would be like she is the cartoon: sexy, but less cheesy and more hellbent, more ignorant, far from a hero, but as good as a hero gets in a city like this. She will be Batman's love interest and he has let her get away multiple times due to the city needing all the help it can get. He let's a lot more slip by because the story revolves around him not being able to control the city, he had his victories but he is exhausted and getting used to, or conditioned, to being inadequate. Crime is Gotham's theme. Batman has just been slowing down the villains like he did to Joker. The city hates him enough to where he can't stand on buildings any more and he has to be indigenous like the villains. Batman isn't giving up; he is just unmotivated, too used to the ongoing cycle. Bruce Wayne has no life, he just signs checks and smiles at the public. The villains aren't afraid of Batman too much; he's just a bother. They have become too common and too strong. When Batman arrives the super-villains' attitudes are, "poor Batman, like a zombie forcing himself, killing himself for a city that he's opposite of." The police basically just protect the higher class of Gotham and are really the only force of good, but they don't cross into some neighborhoods such as the ones Penguin rules. Penguin is a mob boss with no charm, no enthusiasm, he's a sick, obnoxious, fat, heartless money launderer who appreciates the finer things, not like the Joker, who definitely runs the city. This needs to be a great actor, no big name, who can give a personality that is selfish and unlikeable. He has never been touched, he is far greater than the first mob boss from Batman Begins. He allows the other villains to roam free and receive henchman and weapons.

Riddler is the last villain Batman faces who threatens to reveal his identity and gives puzzles to Lucius Fox and Batman to follow. The story ends with Batman defeating the Riddler shortly after Penguin. The movie never skips a beat, very intense. Joker's gangs are basically like "Crips" in the city. Very popular teens adults. Joker is in Asulym and Wayne talks to Caine about how Joker is talented with how he influenced Harley Quinn, the therapist. Saying how "evil trumps good" and "hopelessness." Harley Quinn isn't really in the movie, but they show her in a video in that bat-cave robbing a bank and creating chaos with henchman. The only scenes that are shown in the movie are vital to the story, no downtime. All the actors will have to give good performances, obviously, in their screen time. They'll need well thought out costumes. The story is deep, but basic Batman (AKA Control) fighting and struggling against all the villains (AKA Chaos). Though Batman is definitely the main character not like in The Dark Knight. Joker will symbolize how powerful and inevitable evil was in The Dark Knight and how it passed on to Penguin, Riddler, Zsasz. Batman can't just go from struggle to success. He has to change the root of the problem. He faces his fear and puts it all on the line to save the city.

He faces the city after he defeats Riddler saying "They will keep coming. They will never stop. There's an endless number of people out there that will make the wrong choices, do the wrong things, get money in the wrong ways. I have fought to keep this city in balance but it doesn't matter. There is enough good people in this city to overthrow corruption, but there's fear. This city has always been afraid. This isn't Joker's city. This isn't Penguin's city. This is OUR city. Penguin only used your power to give him power. Joker used your fear, but they're afraid, just like you people. They're afraid of you. They're afraid of you people taking your power back. I'm facing my fear today, but this has to stop. You wonder what your power is? It's your word. Say "no." Say "we will no longer live in fear." Joker knew fear was power, it had the power to keep people from doing what they knew they should of been doing. Standing up. People are afraid of fighting alone. Nobody will stand up by themselves therefore nobody will stand up. I stood up but I'm but one man, I don't have the power you have. Money isn't power I was the richest man in this city and I couldn't stop crime. *takes off mask* I'm not afraid anymore I won't hide anymore. So now what will you do with your power? Arrest me?......... Its time for you, Gotham, to make the choice. Do there need to be any more masks in this city? Or are we safe?."

Bruce Wayne gets arrested and during his court hearing, all the citizens, poor and rich, crash the courthouse; symbolizing the people standing up against the order. Bruce Wayne gets sentenced but the people don't use violence. The movie fast fowards to when Bruce Wayne gets released... The rest of the mob bosses were overthrown. The city cleaned out the Joker's gangs. The city cleaned up. Bruce Wayne is in the back of the Rolls-Royce, and Alfred is driving talking quietly to Wayne not saying anything too much important.
Wayne then asks, "Why are we taking this path, the "something something" is that way." Then Alfred turns around with a fulfilled smile and whispers "This path is safe to drive through now." Then the movie ends.

Casting Suggestions

Penguin: Hudson Campbell

Catwoman: Marion Cottilord

Riddler: Barry Pepper

I haven't done too much research on a couple actors.
I think the main thing is talent for the male actors and for Catwoman a pretty woman who can act with that obsessive attitude; versatile.
LOL Penguin should look pretty evil not that expression above.

P.S. I'd make a cameo of the Joker's gang. They would be drunk trying to "holla" at Catwoman.
Saying stuff like, "I prefer her over Batman."
Then I say as she is staring me down on a roof top, "That one day I'm going to be a big shot."
"Hey, I know you like bad boys, I'm reaaaaaallllll bad. You should see what I did just a little earlier."
"Okay, I know, I know. You think I'm a nobody huh? Huh pussycat? But one day Ima run this city. No more Joker Paint. You dig? Ima stay up in Wayne Tower and have you crawling around naked, licking my feet and drinking milk out of a bowwwwllll!!! Ha! And like Mr. Penguin. Ha Ha Ha. They're gonna call me "Mr. Anaconda!!" Then I pull down my pants and flash her.

She throws out her whip and grabs it and pulls me over and says
"No, you should stick with the clown look, cause that little thing is a joke"

She then kicks me, knocks me out, and beats up the rest of the gang
