During a press junket for The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan once again praised Anne Hathaway and her performance as Catwoman. “Anne is incredibly precise and articulate about the psychology of the character. She’s really built it from the ground up, it’s just a delight to watch her perform, the things she does in those heels is not to be taken lightly." Continuing on, Nolan admitted that he feels Hathaway should continue her take as Catwoman. "For me, Gotham and these characters, I’m done. I’ve told our story and I’m moving on." When confronted about Hathaway seeing her own Catwoman spin-off, Nolan stated: "I certainly think she deserves it, she’s incredible."

The Dark Knight Rises is directed by Christopher Nolan(The Prestige, Inception) and stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, and Anne Hathaway. The film will be unleashed upon audiences on the 20th of this month.

if her performance in this film is as brilliant as early twitter reactions suggest then i'm all for it :D.

So if he would've said she didn't deserve it the title would be "Nolan hates Anne Hathaway", right? God, I hate journalism

It can work.... with a $50million budget.

Not sure how many people would see this if it wasn't directed by Nolan.

um, no. Sorry, but the last Catwoman movie didn't work out so well... Plus Catwoman doesn't need her own movie to begin with

chris nolan doesnt settle for anything less than his idea of perfection.. if she couldnt pull off the film the way he wanted her to, then he wouldnt have cast her

This will be an interesting test. Does Wb trust Nolan enough to attempt this and potentially get it right... or are they unable to overlook the fact they tried a Catwoman before and it was an abyssmal failure?

meh, I'm not really a Catwoman fan to begin with but I think she's going to give the kind of Catwoman portrayal I want to see in TDKR

I don't like Catwoman at all and feel she is unneeded in TDKR.

If she's as good as they say though, I'd gladly watch a Catwoman movie.

How would Batman not be in it if it takes place after TDKR though?

Anne Hathaway is not enough to motivate me to see a film.

I would love to see it honestly.
I was talking about it to a friend on here, and I think depending on how the movie goes, it could be great!

Anne is a great performer, great with drama and action, sexy as hell, why not?

Ehhhhhhhhhh, he's just being polite. But I think we all agree here, let's leave the ancillary Batman characters on the shelf and not make solo movies for them. Let's focus on other DC properties.

Well Nolan said himself he's done with his Batman story...who's to say he cant move on and continue somehow with a spin off film of Catwoman that he could direct?

I think the next movie Batman should be in is a Justice League movie. Honestly everybody knows who Batman is, what his origin is and who half his rogues are. We do not need another Batman solo film to set up the Justice League.

i like how this article's heading says "...Chris Nolan (The Prestige, Inception)..."
i think there are enough articles on this site about the guy that you don't have to say which other movies he's directed. we know.

@IM53

I have a feeling Aronofsky is going to want a shot to direct the next Batman flick. He's on record saying that Batman is by far his favorite comic book character, and his tone would be right in line with what the studios would want. In a perfect world Aronofsky would keep his gritty, mind bending style, and inject it with a little bit of fantasy. We've seen grounded Batman done perfectly with Nolan, let's branch out and make it a little more fantastical. I could care less if the characters look like their comic book counterpart, but I would like to see Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, Black Mask etc.

He's just answering a question!!

What answer should be have given instead:... "No... Actually she's Good! But I don't want to see anything from her as Catwoman again... Done"!!

People really behave stupidly!
It's just another answer to some stupid journalists question, as they know how to construct a question & get an answer they want to make/create a story!!

Really?!?!

Out of all the news that came out today of TDKR, is this one from film... NO! It's from a jurnolist creating a news from a thing that's famous!!!!

Just no Riddler. Especially not the jigsaw, zodiac killer amalgam that everyone wants him to be. I'm sorry the Riddler is such a lame villain in my opinion and there are better rogues out there that can create a more compelling narrative.

@Intruder

Daredevil would be PERFECT. Honestly I would like to see a Daredevil movie take place in the 70's when Hell's kitchen was really a nightmare.

But I don't know man, he was going to direct a Wolverine movie and if there is a character who has been completely whored out it would be him. He has been in four movies in just nine years. I think if they take a five year hiatus of Batman movies he would be interested in directing one. However he would want to make his. Remember Intruder Aronofsky LOVES Batman. Imagine if you were a director and you got the opportunity to direct a movie starring your favorite comic book character. You would jump at it.

"knife-heel woman the movie.... no thanks."

I still don't get all the "realistic" contradictions that Nolan delivers. Catwoman kicking ass in 5 inch stiletto heels is not realistic. I taught women's self defense and one of the first practical things we would teach was if you are wearing heels, take them off so you can either run and/or move around effectively or use them as a weapon.

NO!!! Didnt Halle Barry prove that catwoman doesnt work on her own? Hell she barely works along side Batman.

@Ranger

It's the comic book element to her costume. Sure the movie is a heighten reality, but all that means is that it is a fantastical story with a real world back drop. Sure she wouldn't be very nimble in high heels but that is where the suspension of disbelief comes into a comic book movie. Every great movie demands you to suspend your disbelief. The bad ones tend not to be able to suck you in enough to do so, where as the great ones full immerse you where you just accept it.

Daniel Day Lewis probably the shortest filmography of any major actor working in Hollywood. Seriously since 1990 he has been in 10 films.

I was just about to say that! Imagine him making a stellar Daredevil film as a way of apologizing for his. Even the directors cut of DD isn't that bad.
