Total Film sat down with Emma Thomas to discuss The Dark Knight Rises. The full interview will be published in their upcoming issue that will be released on the 16th. Til then you can check out this brief snippet just to get your juices flowing.

When discussing Tom Hardy's Bane, Emma told the magazine, "Tom made a massive physical transformation for the role... It really is an intense performance.”

“He finally feels like a match for Batman – both physically and mentally.”

Thomas is confident that sparks will fly: “Christian Bale and Tom Hardy are both such fiercely committed actors that pitching them as adversaries works incredibly well – they have such a great chemistry on camera.”

As for Anne Hathaway's role as Catwoman, Thomas promised that their version is fresh, “It’s completely new, and it’s a really interesting role. You never quite know where you are with her.”

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Garly Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

Once July comes this movie will dominate the buzz, Avengers will be exciting but it won't be the next Iron Man.

@SetGecko actually, the whole point is, "We have a live action movie of all the characters together.. just like you always dreamed of seeing on the big screen."

I read both Marvel and DC.

You want to really look at facts: Dc were the first to start really good live action movies (Supermans and Batmans).. Marvel just stuck with TV... and with the exception of the Hulk TV show, their live action TV was crap.

I was VERY excited to see them finally doing big screen stuff. From the Spidermans to the recent ones.

I keep waiting for DC to match them now: A live action Justice League movie that kicks ass.

Without the Batman movies, DC are not really stepping up to meet what is happening. Marvel finally did. I want BOTH sides to put out great stuff.

DC versus Marvel has never really been in my mind. Good live action movies is what I want. Have since I was a kid.

To see the Avengers on screen will be a dream come true. BUT, I want to see Justice League too!!

Hathaway, at least in the trailer, and in every other role she's done, exudes absolutely zero sensuality.

Not interested in her Catwoman at all.
