Where will Batman go after Nolan?

Where will Batman go after Nolan?

The questions have been raised, but there haven't been many answers. I think I have a few logical directions the Batman could go. This is a general synopsis of my thoughts on where the Dark Knight should go from the 3rd movie on.

The #1 biggest possibility, is Warner Bro's having someone come into the picture. And replace Nolan, to continue the series into the future. Some would say a Reboot but I don't think that's needed. Even though there's a new director, and possibly a new Batman "More then likely". Going back over the origin when you already did it with Begin's is just over kill. How many times have we seen really good movie's get rebooted or remade? In some other form or way? To many more times then id like to mention honestly.

The 4th film should lead into a "Riddler" situation. A very large question Mark campaign to draw the attention of the fan's again. Get them excited, and what better way to continue that, then to bring in someone who are loved by the fans. Your guess is as good as mine, My dream "Director/Producer" is of course Darren Aronofsky. A very fitting spot to be filled, has always been the director's chair and who would helm it after Nolan. DA is more then qualified and everyone I would think would agree with me.

The plot in the first movie, Batman Begins was the Origin. And how Batman was built into the Machine he is today. The Dark Knight was escalation, and the third movie Dark Knight Rises... will simply be "Fugitive"type theme, where Batman is basically on the run from basically the World. If you really wanna look at it that way at least that is how I see it. Year's should pass, after the 3rd movie and Bruce should probably been in his mid 30's early 40's. That would give time for Robin or Batgirl to enter the picture. Which Robin well your guess is as good as mine, if it were me id combine them all, and change the name of the character sort of like they did with Rachel as Bruce's love interest. They should press the idea that the Mad Hatter was responsible for the Deaths of many children. Including the Robin character's much younger sister.

Robin of course would step in on a one man mission to Hunt the Hatter down. The police would be some what involved but not always. Catwoman would also be tied into the 4th movie, and she would play a smaller role. Talia Al Ghul would enter the picture try to end Batman's life, she would send the League of Shadow's ninja's into Wayne Maynor. They would abduct Alfred and take him Hostage some place in Gotham. Not only would Batman have to hunt the mysterious Riddler character popping up everywhere. But he would be concerned with Alfred's safety now as well.

Batman's larget mission to date would take place, and his detective skills would most certainly come into play alot in this film. He would be challenged greatly intellectually, and with no remorse would he back down from that challenge. He would be pushed to length's never been reached before. There is also another way this could go down. They could possibly take it to the next generation of Batman, the "Tommorow Knight" Batman Beyond. Which I think this is really a pretty solid idea.

You could just start over and be done with the trilogy of the last films. It would be a good start to go by, and Terry could make his transition years later into Becoming Batman. Or you could just kill Batman off, and end the series that way, what do you think? Where will the franchise go after Nolan? Do you possibly have another idea go ahead and let me know, and as always keep the conversation some what civil thanks guys.

i dont think bale would continue if nolan left, and what if the third movie is taken to an extreme like batman being killed off or giving up his mantle.

Aronofsky would be sweet, but I dont see him going to another CBM after Wolverine...my dream director to take over the Batman franchise would be David Fincher he will keep the tone dark.

Batman Beyond movie/trilogy at some point I'm willing to bet. They were going to do a live action BB movie but scraped it to do Bruce Wayne's origin.

pretty simple...just keep the tone Nolan has established, with a new cast but not ignore what happend in Begins/DK or DKR...

I think that a perfect place to "reboot" is an adaptation of "The Dark Knight Returns." Now that the general public knows Batman and his world again, and this arc, if you will, is finished, WB could start fresh; no sequel (we can ignore DKSA), just one really awesome Batman film.

Personaly I think someone should carry on Nolan's vision. Sequel or just another story, I think Nolan has brought Batman too just so Warner Bros can reboot the series again. Really the best way to move forward I think is to either focus more on Batman and less on Bruce Wayne or another important character in Gotham like Catwoman. Now for the firt option, i said to focus more on Batman and less on Bruce because I think that we all know now why Bruce became Batman. Nolan really made sure that we knew Bruce's motivations , so in my opinion the next movie can be more about Batman going out being a detective and fighting crime. For option number 2, i said to focus more on other characters like Catwoman because i want to see Gotham through her eyes. She would bring a differet perspectiove to how things work in Gotham. I know that some of you may think that trying to follow in Nolan's footsteps is sacrilidge but as long as the diector chosen does not try to replace Nolan or one up him, he will be fine. i just dont want to start over after coming so far.

@Mysterion

Yes, David Fincher could make one hell of a Batman film. Hell, I'd see a Fincher film about the GCPD.

end the Nolanverse, make a more comic book styled Batman film with all the characters and establish the Justice League

DA would do a great job with Batman but my preference would be to stop here and maybe in 10 years or so start another batman trilogy

and with what u had as your ideas for the future... WAY TO MANY CHANGES. if your going to put robin in the film, just put them in. if you remember, BTAS the episode robins reckoning... it did win an Emmy. Just tell robins origin within the movie. The batman movies nolan has produced has had much concentration on the mob, which is perfect to lead into a robin origin story within the movie.

No offense.. but those ideas sound like something schumacher would come up with.

Reboot, insert Batman in the DCU -----> JLA movie down the road.

Also, The Dark Knight Returns will lead into the The Dark Knight Strikes Back. If you go that route, your closing off possibilities of future Batman stories unless you want Batman Beyond to be part of the series(which would be cool actually). I think The Dark Knight Returns is better off as an animated movie.

A live-action television series!! That's the next step, right there! Stop milking Batman on film, don't try to top Nolan. WB is planning to produce a live-action Batman series in 2013-2014, much in the style of Nolan's films, which were partially inspired by another great television show, Batman: The Animated Series. A live-action TV series, a serious one-hour drama about The Caped Crusader, that's what I want. Is it what you want?

I'd like to see a Justice League movie. Gimme Wally West as The Flash in it like the cartoon! :F

I think the general audience needs to understand that each film is a different version of that character, just as each comic artist's interpretation of a character is usually unlike the previous. What better way than to do a series of "one-shot" Batman films? Begin with "DK Returns," and then go back to a "current" story, then tell an "early days" Batman story; it wouldn't be too hard a concept to understand if WB was up front about it from the beginning.

I say completely walk away from the modern Nolan/Bale Batman with a period reboot set in the 1940's as a reto styled detective horror story with The Man-bat. Give it to Guillermo Del Toro!

Either way, I'd like to see the grey and black tights rather than armor and a cowl instead of a helmet!

I think Aronofsky is a great director, but I fear his artsy direction if he were to take over Batman from Nolan. I'm sure it would be a very groovy movie, but not sure how close to the source he'd stay. I know Nolan took liberties, but Aronofsky is a bit more of a "unique story" guy. I do dig him though, and "The Wrestler" is one of my all-time favorite movies.

David Fincher would be ideal, I think, to take Nolan's place. I've never seen a Fincher movie that wasn't good. I'd also like to hear what Trent Reznor would come up with for a score for Batman. Fincher is a great director, and I think would be great for this. But...

Why couldn't Jonathan Nolan take over for his brother. I do realize that he is merely a writer, but he did help in writing "The Dark Knight," as well as "The Dark Knight Rises." The guy could be as great a director as his brother, so why not?

SIDE NOTE:

How in the BLUE F*CK did "The King's Speech" beat "Inception" for Best Original Screenplay?!?!? Oh, yeah... The Academy is filled with ignorant people who fail to grasp the meaning of "originality." Nolan has spent the majority of his life developing "Inception," into, what I feel is the most original screenplay for quite sometime... If not, at least out of his fellow nominees....

I love the idea of a Batman Beyond franchise.

Especially with Bale as a grisly old Bruce! It would look amazing visually (Batman meets blade Runner), you could market the hell out of it and it would give another 3 movies to build on the legend that Nolan and Co started.

Even though Bale's leaving with Nolan, it doesn't mean that it has to be a reboot, Batman Beyond would be an awesome idea!

Aronofsky would be a great follow-up Director to the Bat-Franchise! Riddler (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) or Two-Face (played by Aaron Eckhart again) or The Killing Joke (Crispin Glover, Johnny Depp or Daniel Day-Lewis for the Joker.)

Then bring on MY woman: Harley Quinn!!! :D

Most likely the studio is going to try and continue it by getting a new director and actor much like what they did with the James Bond oo7 movies. If that fails they may reboot it, but I doubt they would reboot right away unless The Dark Knight Rises fails big time. Studios are all about money so they will try to milk it until it's dry.

NOLANS FORMULA WORKS...CONTINUE IT, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. WE TRIED IT GOTHIC, WE TRIED IT BORDERLINE CAMPY AND COLORFUL, AN JUST WHEN IT BECAME OVERWEIGHED WITH TOO MANY VILLAINS AND TOO MANY BATS IN THE BATCAVE THE FRANCHISE WENT TO CRAP..IT TOOK NOLANS RE-IMAGINING, THE FORMULA OF REALISTIC, BRINGING IT CLOSER TO THE QUESTION "WHY WOULD A PERSON DO THIS, BECOME THIS AND WHAT IN THE REAL WORLD DO IF HE HAD THE MEANS OF A WEALTHY MAN?"..THE SUCCESS OF THAT PROVES HIS FORMULA WORKS. TO DIVERT TO SOMETHING DIFFERENT IS A GAMBLE THAT COULD GO REALLY BAD IF IT GOES SOUTH WITH THE AUDIENCE.. .

I would really like to see a commercial-less TV series on cable.. The Show would be a hit, and could run for a few seasons because Batman has a great storyline with different angles because of his Gallery of Villains....
