TDK Director Chris Nolan received it for him, and said:

His portrayal of the Joker is one of the greatest cinema performances I have ever seen. I watch TDK once a week, that's how much I enjoy it. "Why so serious" you may ask. Because I only have a handful of movies that rank on this level of acting caliber. You can see that Ledger completely immersed himself into the Joker. This is also an Epic moment for the comic industry.

Yeah he was great and was the best actor in the movie and quite possibly the whole year. He will always be remembered as The Joker as well as a top-notch actor in Hollywood. RIP Heath you deserved that award...now let's see what the oscars hold for him

This Suck now the award is pointless because now every time a actor die they have to win a award Good job Hollywood in screwing yourself and making a Joke out of your award show.

I can not believe you all are happy making money off a man death you people are sick in the head

So if he deserved it because of his death so does this mean every actor has to kill themself too in order to deserved the award

Supermike: HEATH LEDGER HAD BEEN NOMINATED BEFORE TO THE GOLDEN GLOBES,
at least for his performance in BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN a couple years ago, don´t remember if he was nominated for the Oscars that year as well.
I mention this in order to establish THAT HE WAS ALWAYS A GOOD ACTOR,AND NOT ONLY FOR his TDK´s role.

But you are right, Hollywood awards shouldn´t be given as "pitty awards" or "R.I.P. awards" just because of it..
... but well, THE PERFORMANCES ARE AWARDED, so in this case, IMO his was amazing, and well deserving. (BUT BETTER THAN THE OTHER ACTORS NOMINATED??, don´t know, haven´t seen those)...
