Greetings, dear DC Comics/DCEU fans!
My name is Yan Eden and I really wanted to share this very personal animated project o'mine with you (it encapsulates my love for the Joker in a wide range of mediums: be it comics, animation, film or video games) that includes an original script, great vocal performances from such talents as Jay Nelson & Mark Hamill himself (the O.G. Joker from Batman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker and many other wonderful animated films).
Took me a long time to accomplish it, but it's so worth it - it's about the essence of the Joker, his wild relationship with Harley and how he transcends our perception of him at one moment in time or another (there's also a lot of stuff about Jared Leto's fascinating portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime and DCEU's recent news and announcements about a Joker spin-off and a potential Mad Love flick with Jared Leto & Margot Robbie).
Alongside the audio/visual piece we have this wonderful newspaper article which better illustrates what I am trying to convey and represent through the various itterations of the Clown Prince of Crime:
And as seen in the header, the one and only Mark Hamill gave this project an endorsement!
I feel that The Joker is that one project, where I wouldn't change anything at all. It's that one rare occasion where it all fits: my writing/editing/sound design/animation changes/visual experimentation and then the way Jay Nelson flawlessly executed my 4-page script... he did it all in one take and he's not a brand name like Troy Baker or Tony Ingruber, nor he is into imitations (I do believe that Mr. Nelson's Joker is its own hyperactive and unpredictable creature, that can be separated from the imitation game, but also a lovable and joyful one at that). What also helped, is the fact that I am a huge Joker admirer (since the age of 5) and during my time at The Hollywood Reporter magazine (I worked as a freelance writer) I was lucky enough to interview Jerry Robinson (when he was still alive, god bless his soul), Grant Morrison, Neal Adams, Dennis O'Neil, Jim Starlin, Paul Dini, Brian Bolland and Steve Englehart, so my interactions with them clearly influenced this new video project 100%.
It's like a classic radio show mixed with beautiful animation. Hope you enjoy it! If you could share it within your group, that would be an honor to all three of us (myself, Mr. Nelson & Mr. Hamill included). Have a great day, everyone!
