THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE's Ralph Fiennes Wants To Play Alfred Pennyworth In Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN

Harry Potter and James Bond star Ralph Fiennes voiced Alfred Pennyworth in The LEGO Batman Movie, and it now sounds like he's open to taking over the role in Matt Reeves' The Batman. Check it out...

While we know that Ben Affleck is being replaced by a younger actor in The Batman, it's currently unclear whether or not director Matt Reeves is planning to also switch out J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon) and Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth). It would make sense if he did, but many fans would be disappointed to say goodbye to their takes on the characters.

Something that could lessen the blow, however, is someone like Ralph Fiennes taking over as the Caped Crusader's loyal butler.

Asked during a recent interview if he would be interested in playing Alfred in a live-action setting after voicing him in The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, he said: "A lot of good people have gone before me. I'd be happy to follow in their footsteps!" The actor then pointed to the camera and said, "Put that out there! Alfred!"

It would definitely be fun to see someone like Fiennes take over the role and it's easy to imagine him dishing out advice to an inexperienced Dark Knight. His casting could be a little too on the nose, though, and Reeves no doubt has his own ideas.

Never imagined him in the role. But honestly, I absolutely can see him nailing it.

I do like the idea of Ralph Fiennes as Alfred but Jeremy Irons was awesome and it would be a waste to see him go so soon.

Wow. This is a great idea, he could very easily give us the definitive Alfred. I'd prefer they keep Jeremy Irons but if they don't this isn't a bad way to go.

He could do it but I would really like Irons and Simmons to come back. Irons shined in BvS and to a lesser extent JL despite the movies’ faults and Simmons barely got the chance in JL. There is precedent for reboots to continue lesser characters with the same actors. I’m looking at you, Dame Judy Densch.

I would much rather like to see him pay someone else. I think Mark Rylance would make a great Alfred.

I prefer it if Irons is kept, but Fiennes is a damn great choice for Alfred.

How about Ben Affleck as Alfred, lol? You graduate one step up. So really Christian Bale should've been Ben Affleck's Alfred.

Nice idea, but I think Fiennes would be a great bat-villain.
