Warner Bros. have released an updated plot synopsis for Christopher Nolan's "epic conclusion", The Dark Knight Rises via the film's official website. Most of this synopsis may seem familiar to most, though some new details are featured, including the mention of Bane driving Bruce Wayne out of his "self-imposed exile". Read the full synopsis down below.

It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

The Dark Knight Rises opens in theaters July 20th. The film stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Colltiard.

"Mysterious agenda"?
Here's my best guess:
Ra's Al Ghul's wife was killed by a rival organisation, now headed by Miranda Tate. Bane is the main man in this organisation. They are also responsible for ordering the deaths of the Waynes and making it look like an ordinary crime. They are much, much worse than the League of Shadows. They are the Sith to the League of Shadows' Jedi.
Talia wopuld also have been killed by this organisation, but she escaped and has been on the run ever since. She changed her name to Selina Kyle and decided to covertly do the work of thhe League of Shadows in Gotham by robbing from the wealthy.
Or something like that.
Who is Selina Kyle?
Selina Kyle is Talia.

@brazilianbatman: you might wanna check out what this film is based on: Knightfall, no man's land and The dark Knight returns (which shows bruce being retired for approx; 10 years as well). Realistically noone could constantly evade the police for 8 years, plus it makes perfect sense then why bane would be able to beat him, since he's out of shape, hence bruce wayne's need to "get back in the game", as he says in one of the Tv spots. Obviously he broke his sacred rule twice (if you count ra's al Ghul) and maybe he's decided that he'd be a hypocrite if he kept fighting crime because he knows that the Joker won actually.

Either way I'm more convinced than ever that Selina Kyle is Talia. I thought it was a really bad idea having Selina and Talia in the same movie, but to merge them, in the same way he merged Henri Ducard and Ra'sin the first one would be cool. They are the only women in the comics that Bruce has both married and had child with. They may as well be the same woman. It's ingenious, if it is the case.
But even if I'mwrong, I think thatMiranda Tate and John Blake are red herrings. If Nolan's got anything up his sleeve, he's gonna have to earn his reputation and be crafty about it, isn't he?

Why would Selina be Talia? That would mean she would be working with her father's killer.

I mean the guy who let her father died.

@Duke: I don't think he will do that this time. Still think Cotillard is Talia

DragonofDarknessXIII@ Why would Talia marry her father's worst enemy and constantly betray her father to help Bruce Wayne? And vice versa, why would she betray the father of her child to aid her father? This is just the conflict of her character. I can totally see this happening. I'm calling it, duders. Actually, BaleGirlBrazil sugested it on another thread, but it's where I'm placing my wager, f'shizzle.

P.S.(Don't give a [frick] what marvelites think about that)

@DukeAcureds — I used to think that too (back in Summer '11). Catwoman discovers her lineage (finds out she's an al Ghul). Thought it would be cool to combine the two love interest. Would explain how she can kick ass. But with Miranda Tate in the picture, Selina is Selina and Tate is Talia.

lol at the Marvelites still trying to dispel the anticipation for this.

Selina = Talia ... HELL NO

DukeAcureds
DukeAcureds - 7/2/2012, 2:15 PM
Epic@ Red Herrings, duder. It's clever, bacause, Nolan knows that we are all gonna think that she's Talia and while we're all looking that way he pulls the trick on Selina. He knows to not say she's Catwoman and to only call her Selina and to not tell us who Cottilard is playing but say he has a casting call for an Eastern European woman and then dress her up like Talia (Just like Ken Watanabe was dressed up like Ra's). But he can't just say she is Talia, 'cause then we could all guess that it could be Hathaway. He has to have us guessing that Tate is Talia, by not telling us that she is... Y'know. He's a magician, like in The Prestige.
Besides, it wouldn't be too against the character, either. Catwoamn's origin is the most varied of all. Until recently, in the comics, she was the daughter of Carmine Falcone.
Also, she does seem to have the same agenda as Ra's in The Dark Knight Rises. Just look at what she whispers to Bruce, when dancing with him. And how she whispers it, which I think is brilliant, irregardless of whether or not she's Talia.

BrazillianBatman, Batman was probably about 35 at the end of TDK and will be coming out of retirement in his mid 40's. Its not like the comics where he can accomplish an infinite amount as time is not a factor.

Yossarian@ I'll take those spoilers.
Brazillian Batman@ He was 30 in Begins, when James Gordon Jr. was a baby and James Jr was about 5 or 6 in The Dark Knight and this is 8 years later, so he'd be mid-40s-ish.

@Duke actually I always believed Bruce was around 27-27 at the end of Begins. When he was attending the trial for Joe's testimony. He was on break from his University. He looked very young about 18-20 I would guess. Then he was gone for 7 years. Which would place him mod-late 20's. The Dark Knight was only about 6 months after Begins. Making Bruce still about 27 (since he just celebrated his Birthday in Begins.). Now Rises takes place 8 years later after TDK. So that would actually make him around 35.

8 years of no Batman? How about 3 movies of no Batman? The last film wasn't good enough to warrant Batman retiring for 8 years.
I'll see this film, but I'm not excited about it.
