Zack Snyder's Justice League recently enlisted Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto to return as The Joker, and a compelling theory doing the rounds suggests the villain murdered Robin in Wayne Manor before burning it down. That would explain its dilapidated condition in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and why Bruce Wayne has never restored his one-time home.
Speciality costume manufacturer Douglas J. Stewart recently shared a closeup of Robin's costume on Instagram, detailing the work that went into creating it.
He explains that, "[Robin] was brutally murdered and then set ablaze by the Joker. The story had to be told in the salvaged costume on display inside the Batcave." That's pretty grim, and a horrible way for the Boy Wonder to die. Of course, it also poses the question of why Batman didn't make a greater effort to take The Joker out in Suicide Squad!
Dick Grayson is the DC Extended Universe's Robin, and this was a terrible way to go at The Joker's hands. With any luck, Zack Snyder's Justice League will elaborate on this on HBO Max.
