Debates about whether Batman could truly defeat Superman have raged in the comics and amongst fans for decades. Now with an epic cinematic battle on the horizon, the debate has intensified. Logic dictates that with the myriad of abilities and powers in Superman's possession, Superman would defeat Batman in two seconds - regardless of whether he has on armor or not. So how does a film like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice have a clash between the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight that isn't over beefore it begins? Henry Cavill has a prety good answer.
Asked by JoBlo.com why Superman wouldn't end the fight with Batman in two seconds, Cavill replied, "Well, if Superman were Superman, he wouldn't. And therein lies your answer."
Meaning that Superman's ideals and principals will keep him from going all out and possibily injuring or killing Batman. And with Superman fighting at only 50-70% of his maximum that gives Batman (and most of Superman's villains) a fighting chance. It reminds of a great scene from Bruce Timm's Justice League: Unlimited.
