Jena Malone Has Been Cut From BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

After months of speculation about who Jena Malone may or may not be playing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it was just confirmed that Malone has been cut from the theatrical release of the film.

In EW's continued coverage of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it was just revealed that actress Jena Malone has been cut from the film's 2hr 31m theatrical release.  However, Malone will play a key character in the extended, R-rated, Ultimate Edition that will be released on home video. EW goes on to report that though Malone has been cut from the theatrical release, the character serves a clue to what the future of the DCEU holds.

Furthermore, Malone's secret character will be joined on the R-rated Ultimate Edition by even more secret cast additions, extended fight scenes and further hints to the future of the DCEU.  Is this calculated marketing or simply a decision to have the best film in theaters on March 25th? Either way, Dawn of Justice isn't even out yet and I'm already jonesing for the Ultimate Edition.

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.

I'm glad they're going to release a 3hr+ version.

That's what I felt Age of Ultron really needed, was another 45 minutes to just breathe a bit.
