It had never been done before. Releasing a scene that wasn't in the original theatrical cut just days after the film's world premiere. Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder did something never seen before when they decided to release the Communion scene from the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Cut, featuring Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor communicating with the now known Justice League villain, Steppenwolf. Why do such a thing? Well, according to Comic Book Resources, Snyder just wanted to try something new. "I kind thought like, 'Oh, that would be a cool after-credits sequence.' But then I was like, 'I don't know, can I do that?' Because Marvel does that. 'Is that a thing?' So we were like, 'Oh! Well, maybe there's another way to do it.'"
This method of teasing the next film certainly stands out compared to Marvel's multiple end credit sequences. Whether or not Warner Bros. and DC will continue to do this remains unclear. However, the release of the Communion scene did create a lot of buzz for Batman v Superman, so it's entirely possible that we might be seeing teaser scenes on the internet after future DC film releases. Do you think Warner Bros. and DC should continue this trend?
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before. Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Holly Hunter, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is directed by Zack Snyder, written by Chris Terrio from David S. Goyer's screenplay.
