Black Panther is now just a couple of months away from being released and Empire Magazine's cover story takes us behind the scenes of the first Marvel Studios movie to be released in 2018. We'll bring you a little more from that later but in the meantime, we have an awesome batch of images which both focus on the characters and take us behind the scenes of Ryan Coogler's first blockbuster.

Below, you'll find plenty of shots of T'Challa in action along with the villainous Killmonger, not to mention the movie's impressive female cast. There are quite a few new faces included here as well!

To view the entire gallery of Black Panther images, be sure to click on either one of the buttons below because you'll definitely want to see these. Then, let us know what you think about them - and what they reveal about the highly anticipated superhero movie - in the comments section down below.

I love it.
I love these things.
The costume, the accent, the whole culture.
Hopefully we'll get something like that with Atlantis too.

@Doomsday8888 - One major thing I had a love/hate relationship with in the depiction of Aquaman in the DCEU was the Polynesian aesthetic thing they had going on. I loved it because the designs for Aquaman's and Mera's armour, as well as the Atlantean soldiers' armour were gorgeous in the Justice League film with those intricate triangular designs. But I hated it because it was only done because Jason Momoa was cast, his JL look (and his overall look) didn't scream "Aquaman" to me, and there didn't seem to be anymore Polynesian actors or extras being cast anyway.

It seems James Wan has scrapped the entire thing and come up with his own designs. I only like the new Mera look so far. But I'd love to see more, especially how they do Ocean Master.

I'm a sucker for superhero costumes that have a cultural thing like that going on. My favourite ones come from Doctor Strange (got snubbed for an Oscar nomination in that regard in my opinion), Wonder Woman, and now Black Panther.

@BlindWedjat
Judgin from the BTS images, some casting, i think Wan preserved (and for a certain extent HAD TO preserve) certain aspects of Arthur's background, like his father for example, dunno if the rest of the cast will share this trait tho, but maybe with some extras?
The armor/costumes seems to be there, with their own rules, it's hard to say since we haven't seen even a teaser trailer, but i want to keep an open mind, i trust the guy.

@Doomsday8888 - I mean he is the one who cast Aquaman's dad so of course. He had to do that in the case. It's still quite obvious this version of Aquaman is part Polynesian. That I don't really have a problem with. It's a cool little aspect considering the Polynesian water gods and stuff.

What I'm really talking about is the design of anything Atlantis, which seems to have changed from a distinct Polynesian aesthetic inspiration, to a more sea life inspiration. In my opinion, this was a smart move. Having that Polynesian touch with no Polynesians could rub people the wrong way. It's like making Moana with characters that look white, black, Hispanic or Asian, but only one Polynesian character.

Worst case scenario for this movie for me seems to be it being a gorgeous looking action spectacle with a strong black cast and an Ant-Man like BO performance. Above that there's a lot of room, though. We'll see how it'll actually do soon enough.

@Kyos - This may be naive of me to say since Anyman was in the 500's after 2 Avengers films, but I don't think we'll be seeing that level of box office in the MCU again. Even Dr Strange almost reached 700, and Black Panther's hype is beyond any recent solo save Wonder Woman. Thor 3 is nudging 850, that'll be 3 MCU films topping 850 this year. Panther can potentially keep the ball rolling, but on the safe side I'll venture a guess that it will top 750. I think that's conservative. In fact I think Antman and the Wasp will top at least Dr. Strange. Black Panther and Antman were both great in Civil War.

@TheWalkingCuban - I agree. Ant-Man was the only under-$600m MCU release post-Phase-1, and that was a weird little solo debut of an obscure character with no previous appearances. I fully expect Black Panther to be able to reach anything from $600-800m. Maybe even more, if it is really well received. I'd expect it to have a stronger domestic performance then usual for the MCU's solos, and a lot will depend on how international audiences (like in China) take to it.

T'Challa and Wakande being presented as crucial elements of Infinity War in the trailer(s?) will definitely help boost hype for the movie as well.

@Kyos - Yeah, the MCU worldwide average is 794.2, and the higher that gets the harder it is for MCU movies to top it, but they seem up to the challenge. Surely Infinity War will put it over 800, even if Black Panther lowers it or keeps it 794. Domestic in the 300's is a given, maybe even over 350! The brand, man, the brand.

@TheWalkingCuban - Domestic for IW will top 500, I won't venture a guess higher than that, though I won't be surprised if it breaks Avengers' domestic and worldwide ceiling.
