We already knew there was a very good chance that Marvel's Black Panther would become the highest-grossing superhero film of all time (not accounting for inflation) in The US by the end of the weekend, but the latest box office updates reveal that it's already there!
Ryan Coogler's critically acclaimed adventure took in $630 million domestically on Saturday, knocking the first Avengers movie ($623.4 million) off the top spot to officially become the King of the box office Stateside.
This means that Black Panther is now also the 5th highest-grossing movie of all time domestically, regardless of genre, and if it passes Iron Man 3's worldwide total of $1.214 billion by Monday - which it is on track to do - it'll become the third highest-grossing superhero film of all time globally, behind Avengers ($1.5 billion) and Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.4 billion).
Wakanda forever, indeed.
