Time To Recap And Update On My Theories Of The Black Panther Being In Avengers 2, (That's Right I Told You First) And Who Should Play Him. Also How It Is Unfolding Right Before Your Eyes!

Earlier this year in my article right here on comicbookmovie.com '5 Reasons I Believe Avengers 2 Will Showcase The Black Panther' on 1/21/13, a lot of you thought that I was crazy when I told you Black Panther would be in Avengers 2. I had no inside knowledge, I just used common sense. If enough people kept asking Marvel for a chance to see the Panther in action they would have to put it on the market. I gave you 5 reasons why they would wait until The Avengers 2. Fear of an all black cast and how the public would react to it, down to the smaller details how Marvel was still calling African American actors for the part after they said that there would be no Black Panther solo movie. I just followed The Avengers DVD cartoon release from the early 2000's.

Avengers 1 was about putting the team together to save the planet from aliens and how Avengers 2 was about The Black Panther needing The Avengers help saving his country Wakanda. I finished the article by saying that The Avengers 2 would be in Africa. We had already seen the Avengers tear up an American city in Avengers 1. My only conformation came when Morris Chestnut hinted last month that he wanted to play Black Panther in the up and coming Avengers 2 movie. No one from Marvel confirmed his statements, but sometimes your answer isn't in what people say it's what they don't say. Marvel executive Kevin Feige didn't shoot down Chestnuts Twitter outburst, the comments just came down and died off. Feige is quick to shoot down false hoods about the Marvel movie universe but dances around any question about The Black Panther. Like the name Black Panther burns a hole in his tongue he won't even mention it. Let's me know he is saving it for something much bigger.

Onto Chadwick Boseman I wrote an article right here on comicbookmovie.com on this talented actor titled 'Chadwick Boseman From One Hero To The Next?' on 3/25/13 when I admitted I wasn't the first to fancast Chadwick Boseman as The Black Panther but I was the first to say after the movie '42' Marvel would go crazy and offer him the role of Black Panther or he would be on their radar as reported on Latino Review on 5/1/13. Which brings me to more current news just 3 days ago 5/16/13 word spread on the net that Marvel Studios are looking to shoot in locations such as Cape Town, South Africa for the Avengers 2. I think by now we all know who and what that is for. Black Panther and Wakanda...take it to the bank. I am such a Black Panther fan that it bothers me that so many of you shot my ideas down but the lack of credit hurts the worst. If some of the more popular guys on this site had foreseen this coming you would call them psychic, or if I had inside connections and stumbled across this info like some of the other folks on this site you would have said great scoop, but I don't, all I have is a big heart and a creative mind. More importantly I have a burning desire to see The Black Panther, the first main stream black superhero get his just do's by hitting the big screen like all these other great characters.

I will believe it when i see it, my friend. What you are saying absolutely makes sense, but with GOTG coming out, marvel has been stand off-ish about introducing/investing in more new characters. I mean we're not getting another hulk movie yet...

They're shooting in Cape town due to tax breaks and it being cheaper to film there. Just because they're filming there doesn't mean they're shooting on location, they can easily build sets like they did in The Avengers with the Calcutta scene and just because Sout Africa is in Africa it doesn't mean that it's Wakanda. Wakanda isn't based on any real life city and would most likely be computer generated like Asgard was in Thor, Feige also said something like this.

Man, ima be mad if BP gets a good movie before DD does!

But that's beside the point, this is interesting. I would like to see T'Challa on the big screen, but IMO Marvel has FAR better characters they could be using. (I don't hate BP, Panther is a good character. But DD, Hulk and Punisher are GREAT characters)

@gab - marvel didn't make a billion dollars of of avengers. The $1.5 billion box offive earnings is split with the theatres... And take out production costs... And advertising... And downey's $50 million bonus because of his contract. They were left with enough money to finance 3 more movies. IM3, Thor:tdw and Cap:tws. Luckily IM3 did a billion, but subtract the same money, except the bonus i think....

Gab, do you realize how absurd you're being?

Imagine if after Iron Man came out, I guessed that we'd see Hulk in the Avengers movie. Then when it was CONFIRMED, I thought I should ...damn, I don't even know what you want.

It isn't even confirmed yet. Cape Town doesn't look ANYTHING like Wakanda should, but because it's in Africa, you believe it's CONFIRMED! And even then, so freakin what? You aren't the only one who can come to this deduction?

Another example, I had been running with the screen name "Neo is Smith" way back before the Matrix sequels were released, and Reloaded was just a teaser trailer. I had the idea that Smith was, like Neo, an anomaly within the Matrix based on his individuality among the other Agents and the way THEY interacted with him as something of a superior.

And then it happened. And I was NOT alone. Even in 2003, when I was a sophomore in high school, I didn't go around claiming "I told you so!" not because of any humility I might have had, but because it's just a stupid thing to do.

Ok. I argued witha few people. I said that Foxs big announcement, that they have yet to announce, would be an agreement with Marvel to use Mutants in the Avengers. Now I know I wasn't the first to think so, but if I'm right, you definately won't see me writing an article that says I TOLD YOU SO in the damn headline. Thats just ridiculous. I actually get more aggravated every time I look at it. I have to remind myself how young and naive some people on this site are. Edit the headline and don't come off as a petulant child and you will get more respect on this site.

To say I TOLD YOU SO still comes off as immature though. Leave it if you want, its your article. Problem is, say they announce everything you just said, and it turns out you are one hundred percent right. Nobody will ever give you credit cause your trying to force feed it. Maybe I'm an idiot, probably am, but that makes perfect sense to me. Seems like I'm not alone in my thinking. I will read your articles again, and see what they announce soon.

No I was not one of those people. In my opinion though, solo film first. I don't want them to do something similar to the second animated film. Something new please. I liked that cartoon, but its time for something new.
A main character has to die, and the heroes can't have an all out win with no consequences. Like Empire Strikes Back. Well, Han didn't die but you know what I mean. Anyway, if they can get Black Panther to be part of the story then I'm game.

What do you they will be getting out of a deal like that...? What character do you think they want from Marvel considering they just gave a quite a few back.

2 things, first Fox and Marvel WILL team up at some point. Marvel has 2 (TWO!!!) Billion dollar movies under their belt and you have to rhink that studios believe Avengers 2 and Avatar 2 will be the two highest grossing movies of all time. That kind of earning potential would buy alot of cooperation from fox. Then you have Disney behind them to underwrite everything, its just TO profitable not to. Theres a Marvel themed park at Disney, they have every motivation to combine as much of the Marvel universe as possible (i believe this goes for the Fantastic Four as well.) Secondly.... Black Panther is a done deal, its just how and when. I truly believe that Marvel has atleast 1 and possibly 2 projects that we know next to nothing about. Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be the linchpin of a much more expansive universe. I think we will get an inhumans or a Nova solo movie at some point before Avengers 3. That includes Black Pantber in there. While Marvel has a leg up on DC they are well aware the Man of Steele is going to even the playing field a bit. I dont think it will make IM3 money but it will do well enough to get a justice league. Marvel is going to want to have that market saturated and that includes new characters and a vastely expanded universe. Include Agents of Shield (any one that saw the trailer and says it dosent look good is really just hating to hate) and Marvel has given itself the ability to literaly set up almost any story. And ill throw this in there just because... the Rock has enough hollywood pull right now that if he really wants to play Luke Cake and Marvel has even the tiniest desire to do a heroes for hire movie it will get done. Im in the camp that believes if we dobt see Luke Cage by season 2 of Agents of Shield its because Marvel is going to make a movie with him.

Marvel is dumb not to fast track heros for hire with the rock throwing himself at them. They should more than understand the value of star power.

Maybe we're getting AvX for avengers 2! There's more evidence of that right now than black panther or masters of evil!

Think about it for a second... Fox is retconning their continuity with days of future past. Which admittingly didn't raise any flags for me.

Then came the the "brother sister act" quote which i, and most others, take as quicksilver and scarlett witch. Who are mutants. A middle ground of sorts contratually. They are 100% mutants(fox) but are notoriously avengers(marvel).

Marvel has yet to totally piss on the origins of their heroes yet. No mandarin references please. But its worth giving them the benefit of the doubt that they will not totally change peter and wanda's origins.

And then in the comics we suddenly got avengers vs xmen. I know this is a little bit of a reach but it reminds me of marve launching the ultimates. I thought fury looked like slj right away, marvel was planting the seed... 20/20 hindsight, i know...

Now the biggest stretch, they announce that they are filming in south africa. I know everyone is thinking black panther, but what other famous marvel character are from africa??? Storm... And Apocolypse! They're from north africa i know, but i said it was a stretch...
