The Black Adam movie has been a long time coming, but it's finally starting to feel real after that concept art was released during last year's DC FanDome event. There have been a series of delays (many of which were caused by COVID-19), but it now appears the DC Comics adaptation will be Dwayne Johnson's next project.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Black Adam producer and President of Production at Johnson's Seven Bucks Production, Hiram Garcia, revealed that they finally start shooting in April.

"We're getting started soon, you know actually, we begin filming in April, we'll be in Georgia, home away from home. We're really excited man, we have everything is ramped up, we're so fired up for this," he revealed. "Obviously, you know how passionate we are about this project. This is very special to us, and you know, not only Black Adam, but JSA, and all these characters we're introducing to the world and, what we want to do with it."

"Look, we were supposed to have been filming last year. COVID, like it delayed everyone, it kinda got in the way, but we're happy we're able to pause, regroup, and now we're going to be getting going," Garcia continued, "and by April we'll be shooting and on track to bring this thing home."

Black Adam currently doesn't have a release date, but chances are it will hit theaters in 2022.

As well as Johnson as the title character, the movie will include Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. Marwan Kenzari and Sarah Shahi have been added in mystery roles, and we're still waiting to hear on who's going to play Doctor Fate.

Thought The Rock himself already confirmed this earlier? Anyway, I wonder if this cones out before Shazam 3. I assume so, so I hope this somehow ties into that.

@bkmeijer - There has apparently been no communication or coordination between the two projects.

@GwenLantern - for know that doesn't really matter though since Shazam 2 focuses on a different villain, but I do want the third Shazam movie to have Black Adam though

@bkmeijer - You gotta let the kids grow up 1st. I don't think Rock wants to be seen beating up a bunch of kids if they crossover to soon lol.

But if they don't crossover soon these actor's contracts are going to end too so its a mess...But DC isn't prioritizing crossovers anyway

@mastakilla39 - that's true. But this is a cross-over I kinda do wanna see. Also, you made me laugh, so cheers to that

@bkmeijer - Why would it not come out before Shazam 3. The way it's going it will probably be coming out before Shazam 2. I could see Black Adam getting an April 2023 release or potentially earlier if it gets moved ahead of Aquaman seeing as it would be a long shot that it hits its Dec 2022 release date.

@Aquamoa18 - oh yeah, my mistake. I meant if it will come out before Shazam 2 (since thats june '23 I believe).

If they really are gonna start shooting next month, it'll probably come out april, may or june already. But I don't know for sure.

Hopefully its good

Hopefully the Rock put more effort in than usual and doesnt just play himself in a costume

Hopefully they dont make Adam goofy like Shazam (they are not the same type of character)

Hopefully the jsa is done better than the jla

If I had an emotional response to this news it would be "mild indifference"
Not saying it can't be a good movie, The JSA seem to be nicely casted, just hard to reconcile the fact that this just feels like a Dwayne Johnson vanity project.
Can't say I'm familiar with Black Adams anti-hero leanings in the comics

Kewl, let's see if this is more along the lines of Shazam or BvS. Hope it's more the first

BTW, you remember that thing about "Shazadam" being bullshit?
Well, it turns out that it being bullshit was bullshit.

Shazadam is real. It was Bendis' main contribution to DC's Infinite Frontier #0.

@GwenLantern - I was coming here to say the same. What the [frick] was Bendis thinking?

Bendis: "Shazadam....that sounds awesome. You did it again, Bendis!"
