I got love for ya Wesley but...

Come on. You can't honestly think Marvel won't go with new blood. It makes the most sense. This is a re-introduction of The Daywalker in the MCU. You're connected to what came before and this is something NEW. It's like bringing back Affleck to play Murdock. Or Jane to play Punisher.

@ComicsBornAndBred - I would rather much prefer an older Blade. If they do cast someone new, it's obviously going to be someone young. Look what happened with the TV series. It was just bad without Snipes.

@Kr08 - no no, I want an older guy too. Not too old, maybe late 30s. But I think going new is just the sensible thing to do. Start fresh. Daredevil was a fresh restart for the character. Punisher too.

He does age very slowly. Like Cap, he could be 100 and looks 30.

@ComicsBornAndBred - The crazy thing is that Snipes still looks like he's in his late 30s.

When it comes to Marvel's films & Netflix shows, does anyone still have a passion for Blade?

I mean there's so much more interesting things going on at Netflix & movies with Marvel. Also having Blade, a half vampire, would mean vampires exist in the MCU. Which sorta abuses our suspension of disbelief. I know comics do that but comics are weird like that and it's fine comics are that way.

Sure GOTG is weird but that stuff happens in deep space. This is Earth. Having characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Widow, Black Panther, Captain America, Daredevil, Punisher, and others all feel like real people in a real world.

To then say "vampires exist in this world" sorta feels like jumping the shark you know?
TheBeard
TheBeard - 5/24/2016, 4:53 PM
@LEVITIKUZ - Vampires could work in the MCU. If Dr Strange exists than vampires can exist. They would just be like mutants post M-Day. They're around just not a lot of them, and they hid in the shadows.
TheBeard

@LEVITIKUZ - true. I see what ya mean. I love Blade. One of my top five favorite comic book characters. His mythology could only further the new mystical world that's coming to the MCU with Strange and Iron Fist. Bring a little darkness and horror to that mysticism.

If you handle it right, the vampires could be a terrifying force that's not silly.

Just pattern them off of this:

This tone of 30 DOF would be perfect for Blade

@ComicsBornAndBred - I think I saw that a year after it came out when i was 17 and it scared the living shiit out of me how terrifying those vampires were. But yeah they were done with the proper amount of fear.
SpoonWielder
SpoonWielder - 5/24/2016, 7:12 PM
@LEVITIKUZ - Totally agree. The problem is that vampires have become a punchline thanks to the Twilight series, so no one will take them seriously.
minusman
minusman - 5/25/2016, 4:07 AM
@LEVITIKUZ - I hope vampires exist in the MCU- that way we can hope for a Midnight Sons show.

I loved Blade 1 and 2 so if they can capture that feel again by all means let them go for it

Not gonna happen, Snipes.

Wesley still DAT DUDE. Much respect.

For real though, who has TRULY BEEN AS BADASS IN THEIR ANTI-HERO/SUPERHERO ROLE AS WESLEY WAS WITH BLADE? That swag. That demeanor.

Maybe Chadwick as Panther. Cox as DD. Bernthal as Punisher. That's all I can think of. Wesley is arguably the most badass I've seen.

@ComicsBornAndBred - No lie! Snipes is still that dude for this role.

I'd love to see him come back as Blade, but I think Marvel is going to cast someone else as Blade. That's if they actually bring Blade into the MCU.

no thanks, dude is too old, he might be in good shape for his age, but I want a new start (and I hope Marvel feels like that too). plus I dont want Blade Trinity anywhere near the MCU canon

now if they want to involve Wesley as a consulting producer or as a mentor character to the new Blade (a bit like Helen Slater in Supergirl or John Wesley Shipp in The Flash), Im all for it. but please have a young badass play Blade, and to distance it from Wesley's original brilliant portrayal, make him British like he was in the original comics, maybe dont even make him half vampire, that didnt appear in the comics til the movies became popular.

to me, this would be like casting Tobey Maguire as Spidey in the MCU, he had his time, now move on to a new start

thor2273 - 5/24/2016, 5:09 PM
If they were to recast I think even thou he sucked as Electro, Jamie Foxx would be a good Blade because Blade is a badass who doesn't say a lot like Django was.
TheMadman
TheMadman - 5/24/2016, 5:11 PM
While I haven't seen Blade Trinity yet (might do that tonight), I honestly think that either A) Marvel needs to start fresh or B) Wesley Snipes playing the exact same version of Blade but older could work. From what I've seen, there was nothing that managed to happen (at the very least in the first two movies) that would change the MCU in any dramatic way whatsoever. It could honestly work in their favor, seeing as I find it hard to believe that Captain America was around until 1944 and then the very next superhuman to appear was the Hulk in 2003 (since in TIH they said the Hulk had been around for five years and that came out in 2008). Why couldn't there be heroes hiding in the shadows?
TheMadman
TheMadman - 5/24/2016, 5:13 PM
@TheMadman - Oh I forgot, Ant-Man surfaced in the 70s/80s.
